Yup and I don't think we win it all if it both those playoff games were not in Philly.

Bring this thing full circle. Wentz goes down vs the Rams and for seeding purposes, that was the biggest game of the year. Foles comes in and makes a few throws but none bigger than the one to Nelson. We lose that game, we might not even get a bye, let alone HFA. Foles was money from the jump. Team didn't go into the shitter when Wentz went out in that game. Defense stepped up and Foles made plays. Amazing man

He would obviously get paid better to be a starter, but howie has already demonstrated his ability to pay a premium for the backup qb position , which obviously paid off. Being a backup is not a bad gig and for some of the reasons mentioned it still may be an attractive career move.

Now what happens when wentz loses that first game, or hell, throws an interception? This is Philadelphia we are talking about. Between the hacks in the media, WIP to a fickle fan base, can a scenario where you can move forward with both, even if they are more than amicable to the situation, truly be plausible?

Also is howie still going to pay a premium for a backup when Wentz is off his rookie deal and gets a huge second contract?

Wentz rookie deal is a great point. We have a few more years where we can fill out the roster before people get expensive. Might make howie more likely to trade Foles to get picks with cost certainty

The only bad move - and I suspect it will start bubbling up from national media rabble - would be to announce Foles is the starter until further notice

I think he gets traded. There's no way Roseman passes up a chance to rob another team of their 1st rd pick. Foles got his moment, he won a SB, he will forever be loved here, but I think he deserves to go be a starter somewhere and make starter money.

He deserves to do whatever he wants for sure. Most people would assume that means starting and making way more money, it’s just that I can imagine him wanting to stay as a backup.

I don’t know though. The smart play for the long term is to trade him.

We all know Roseman went to sleep last night thinking about what he needs to do to win the SB again next season and more after that. He's probably salivating at the chance to see what he can get for the SB MVP.

I really can't believe we're having this discussion already - but let's be clear:

Carson Wentz is our future. This season doesn't happen without him. He's our first chance to have a dynastic QB. This coaching staff found a way to get Nicky 6 comfortable - and Nick played like he did in 2013. I have no confidence he could play like this for a full 16, or the next 10 years. And because of the way things go side-ways in Phila. with fans and media - we cannot allow some loyal distorted Nick-faction to make it were Carson wants out and we can't keep him and the whole thing goes south.

This is Carson's team.

If this was the 60's we'd keep both perhaps, but I remember the Craig Morton/Roger Staubach arguments in Dal, the Billy Kilmer/Sonny Jurgenson arguments, Earl Morral/Unitas Morral/Griese arguments.

Nick was brilliant for two games. He executed.

Carson does amazing things when the execution breaks down. When the D is ready.

This is not even a debate.

I'm also not convinced that the demand for Foles will be as high as many believe, because they saw that he was effective in a particular system, with Pro Bowl and All Pro line - and a good arsenal of weapons. Does he want to start somewhere else?

Carson is our Aaron Rogers. There is no debate.

My concern - is that Carson won't be ready on Day 1, and may need some games to be himself again...

On ESPN they said they would think a 2nd would be a good value for Foles. They probably don't know what they are talking about because that isn't something coming from Schefter.

Howie was fortunate to get out of the Chase Daniel deal where, along with Foles, he was paying to much for the back up position. With Wentz, as you say, getting close to a huge deal, an expensive back up is a luxury that the Birds can't afford. The Pats have played this situation correctly with their back ups to Brady; have a reasonably priced back up ready but when the back up gets to the point of being expensive, then move him along.
There are several teams that could use Foles as a starter this fall and should pay what it takes to acquire him. He's not a flash in the pan. He showed it when Kelly was here and did it again this season. If he faltered with the Rams, that looks like it is on Fisher since he also flubbed Keenum. Foles can play this game and he's healthy, unlike some of the FA QBs that will be out there.

I understand if he wants to go start somewhere, but I hope he stays. He's a nice insurance policy and the rousing applause would be epic every time he subbed into a home game.

I don't see him forcing a trade, it is just whether Eagles trade him or not.

Unless and until Wentz is fully healthy and ready to go you’d have to be crazy to let Foles go.
