Cuban righty Jorge Despaigne left the island to pursue an MLB contract. 23, 6'1" 190, three years experience, fastball up to the mid-90s, but has control problems. If he doesn't sign before June 15 (unlikely because of how long it usually takes to establish residency), he'll be subjected to the international bonus pool restrictions

Thank God. Every National holiday doesn't have to be a tribute to our military. We have Memorial Day and Veteran's Day for that. July 4 commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Dammit. Every holiday should honor the military. Arbor Day. Soldiers hide behind trees you know. Labor Day? Being a soldier is hard work you know. Digging holes and stuff. Secretaries Day? Soldiers are always trying to get with hot secretaries.

Evan Gattis hit his 13th HR tonight. He's the same age as Ruf, and started in AA the same year as him. One got a chance to start the other didn't.

To be fair, how does one break into THIS dynamic lineup? And how do you take a chance on a guy like that when you've got divisions to win?
