Flyers 09-10 Season Thread v.4.0: Boucher is Jacob

Postby PTOITWCFTPP » Fri Apr 23, 2010 17:16:33

Just got off the phone with Paul Holmgren and he’s awaiting word on whether veteran right wing Ian Laperriere will need surgery to repair the damage done to his right eye last night.
“There’s a chance he’ll need to have something done,” Holmgren told me.

In other injury news, Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne had successful surgeries and the time frames for their returns remain unchanged, according to Holmgren.
Gagne will have an MRI in two weeks to determine how his right foot is healing and could be cleared to play three weeks from today. Holmgren said Carter appears to be done for the season.

At least coach realized Ville Leino is property of the Flyers

Carcillo was on WIP this morning and they asked him about the bench's reaction to Laperriere's shot to the face and he said his first thought was maybe the puck hit the other side of his nose and straightened it out again :-D

and Holmgren said today that Gagne might begin skating Friday and could be back as early as game 3...

That would sorta be huge. I really liked that top line of Carcillo-Richards-Gagne, plus Gags is so sound defensively.

but if they lose, we get Boston and still have a snowball's chance in hell of having home ice advantage in the ECF

I have looked around but does anybody know when the next series would start? Can't be till the weekend at earliest, right?

I would guess Friday or Saturday if the Caps win.

I guess there's an outside chance of Thursday if Montreal would win.

Boston will be getting Savard back. For a team that struggles to score, that's a nice addition.

I'd still rather play Boston.

Caps-Habs Game 7 is on Wednesday, doesn't that rule out Thursday?

If Boston meets Pitt, series opens Friday. If Boston plays Philly, its expected the series starts Sat.

I was thinking they could play Boston on Thursday since Boston would be off for 2 days.

Looks like Lapperiere is out for at least the start of the next series minimum.

Edit...........out for probably all of round 2.

Fractured orbital bone. Unbelievable. This is after Holmgren said there was no way he wouldn't play. The Flyers luck is incredibly bad every April.

Ian Laperriere has a contusion of the brain and mild concussion. He is out indefintiely, per Paul Holmgren.
