If they said we were in at the end for Rose I would be worried for sure. Other guys I can understand if they see a value play available.

Hopefully Bryan has turned his sights to Kyrie, just to piss off most of you
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

No it was Teague and George Hill that the tweet mentioned.

I think he may have meant that we talked about Derrick Rose previously, as in weeks ago.

Total speculation, but I wonder if Saric is just waiting for the Sixers to trade a big before he signs and was expecting it to happen today.

Did a rep actually say that or did crossing broad just get crappy Intel from a random Twitter person
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

Wroten cut from Knicks. Arguably our 3rd best active player at the end of the season 3 seasons ago.

Can't believe I made it out of that era in one piece.

He's been good with reporting for a few years now. Especially trades on draft night.

Any shift away from exclusive rights to a draft pick would hurt small market teams disproportionately. It's hard enough trying to lure free agents to your non-destination city, and now a city like Detroit would also have to compete with LA for their own draft picks? That puts huge roadblocks in front of bad teams from middling markets, and would extend the turnaround times for bad teams. That's basically a non-starter, in my mind.

The only proposals I've liked as an upgrade over the status quo is to make the number of ping pong balls a function of something other than just last year's record. Perhaps a function of the first 60 games of the season, plus the previous year. It reduces interference with the playoff race in the last few weeks of the season (by disregarding the last 20 games), and also helps the teams with multiple years of ineptitude. You won't get a Tim Duncan going to an already loaded team.

The way to reduce tanking is simple: don't make the draft the most efficient way of getting talent. IMO, you can go two ways with it:

1) Raise salaries on draft picks. As of now, not only is the draft your best chance to acquire a superstar, but it's also the most financially adventageous. This year is a pretty crazy aberration, so I'll use last year's cap as an example. The top pick, Karl-Anthony Towns, got a starting salary of $5.7 million, which is 8.1% of the $70 million cap. (This year's it's going to be like 6%, which is nuts, but again, an aberration.) Increase the financial risk on a draft pick to a higher level, and I think it might at least scare a couple teams off.

2) Eliminate the max. The bottom line is that while you have the max, small market destinations that don't already have a superstar in place might as well not show up. All things equal, elite talent aren't going to play in Milwaukee. However, if you give Milwaukee the opportunity to offer $40 million when nobody else has that much cap space, then you might be in the game. Eliminating the max comes with a host of other issues, and I don't necessarily think it would make the game better, but again, if you're really that concerned about tanking, you're going to have to take something from somebody else or create some serious competitive balance issues. You can do quick fix reforms, but don't come out and act surprised when attendance is at an all-time low and Charlotte's not approving a new arena after 10 straight losing seasons
