My next door neighbor brings me food every now and then. She brought over macaroni salad tonight that she said would never get eaten in her house and asked me if I liked macaroni salad. I don't, but I feel like I had to say yes and be overly appreciative.

Highlights of my trip to upstate New York this weekend to drop my son off at college.

1. Go to the hotel bar Sunday night, or a least the bar attached to the hotel. Twenty seat bar, at least fifteen of which are filled, mostly with hunting types. There for 3-4 minutes, finally make eye contact with the bartender (middle aged female FWIW). Sit there 3-4 more minutes, no contact. Leave and mention it at the front desk while I'm asking for other places to grab something to eat/drink. Told that the bar is closed. Well, for me anyway.

2. Reason I'm even going to the hotel bar is it's three degrees below human existence outside. Heading home the next day, and wondering how much I need to tip the poor sap who has to come outside to pump my gas. Realize I'm in NY, not NJ, and that I'm the poor sap. Do not receive tip.

3. Had left a soda in the car overnight. Freezes, but luckily it did not explode. By the time I'm within 50 miles of home, wedge it between my thighs so I can open it with one hand and keep the other on the wheel, figuring it's safe to open it now. Wrong.

Kid's taking the bus next time.

Shouldn't drink and drive.

I'm addicted to Arnold Palmers or Peace Tea Lemonade/Tea.
