it just removes potential downsides. The company may go out of business someday or stop supporting that product line (forcing you to upgrade to the latest and greatest if you want to maintain the remote capabilities); or, worse case scenario, they go to a fee-based service. I actually got bit a while back when I bought remote temperature sensors so I could monitor the temps in certain rooms around my house from my PC. After a year, they wanted me to pay like 40 bucks a year to maintain the service. lesson learned.

listening to a podcast jolted a memory out of my memory banks. I 'ran away' from home once because of some reason or another when I was about 10. It was winter so I had my coat, my hat, and I put some oreo cookies in my inside coat pocket. I think i also brought some baseball cards. I made it about three blocks, got cold and walked back home real quiet. Ate the cookies right away, too.

my parents used to tell the story all the time about how i 'ran away from home' once. i was found down at the corner just standing there because i wasn't allowed to cross the street by myself.

roommate moved the furniture around while i was gone. it is so hilariously bad and dumb. he switched the love seat and chair. so now the chair is basically sitting alone in a huge part of the room while the love seat is jammed in the entry way to the kitchen with about half of it sitting in the kitchen/eating area.

he did it bc i guess he didnt want the tree to be hidden by the love seat (it wasnt!).

dont know if i should put up a fight about this or just let it be since i am gone in three days again and will be back for only three days before heading home for christmas.

There are now wifi thermostats with smartphone connectivity available for less than $100. The higher end ones add other benefit on type. For example, they don't require someone to program a schedule, since they will learn from own adjustments/preferences. Or, they have multi-room sensors. Personally, I'm very happy with my programmable version that I can alter from my smartphone.

I'm just pointing out a misconception that my sister had, that you need to pay $200 for a thermostat if you wanted to control it from your phone.

Free is less than 200. The downside is in the summer they can adjust the a.c. during peak usage times.

yeah, crazy to think about really. typically did a 27 ish mile trail in a bout two hours. that was with stopping at streets to watch for cars and avoid people, but geez.
