seriously. the having two advisors with close ties to the Kremlin were barely a drop of water in the bucket. I'd say sex sells, but he's had sexual scandals before this.

My argument from last night

Everyone is nervous that he's imploded since the first debate. They never liked him to begin with, but they were afraid of their own voters and a lot of them really think he's preferable to Hillary. Now they see Trump imploding with Independents, so they're afraid of their own voters in the other way, no longer thinking they'll be blamed for a loss, and they still don't like him. Plus they realize they're getting Hillary either way.

We don't have a 9th SC justice. Trump is a symptom. The national R party is the virus. It needs to regroup.

I'm mad at the party as well for nominating Trump. We nominated someone wholly unfit for the presidency and perhaps the only person in America unpopular enough to lose to Hillary Clinton. I am glad he is going to lose to Hillary but her being president the next four years is of little comfort to me.

Whether or not the #NeverTrump movement is large or small, I would think the people actually within the movement shouldn't be targets of derision. Or if they are maybe you could wait till November 9th for that. It's not super easy to oppose the person your party has nominated, even if he's an asshole, especially when he's running against a person your party has loathed for decades and is a crook who 56% of the country thinks should have been indicted and especially when there's an open Supreme Court seat.

you should be more upset that your party is the type of party that would welcome someone like Trump. he's not an aberration, he's a manifestation.

I agree. This is a guy who thinks climate change is a hoax, but it's this recording that causes his downfall. Of course there's an element of the straw that broke the camel's back in this episode, but we live in a very strange country.

if I'm being honest, the Bill Clinton is also a sexual assaulter does resonate a little bit with me. we're not voting for him, but we're voting for his wife, the woman that was complicit in her silence in many cases. I wonder if she's considered divorce once she's elected.

@jbouie
It is...interesting that it has taken "grab 'me by the pussy" to begin to dislodge the official Republican Party from Trump.

@jbouie
The reason, obviously, is that the GOP doesn't care if it alienates nonwhites. It cares if it alienates white women.

@ppppolls
Trump won the nomination because he was the only candidate who told the racists in the GOP it was ok to be racist. Bottom line.

yeah, and the audio & video also helped. there's at least a decent probability that he raped Ivanka, but that was just boring court testimony from a biased party. not directly from the donkey's mouth.

NOW is it ok to call him a rapist?

The GOP elected a sexual predator as their nominee and it was obvious the whole time.

Jerry Springer just said on MSNBC that Trump essentially set the scene for us with this tape and that's why people are disgusted.

The best part of the apology video is where he says he'll be better, as if he's going to change. The friggin guy hasn't even changed his tie in the last 30 years!

I have no problem believing this wasn't orchestrated. The timing is almost perfect for maximum damage. And, I assume there are more tapes.

But the problem is that it doesn't matter. October surprises (not that anyone should really be surprised) are a part of politics. Too bad Jeb or someone hadn't made an effort to find stuff like this a year or so ago, when it would have most certainly ended Trump's candidacy.

Given all that, and given how many establishment Republicans did quite quickly board the Trump train, it is likely that the alt-right is far more influential in the Republican party hierarchy than I was willing to believe. That people like Limbaugh and Franklin Graham really have influence in the party. It's an ugly, ugly episode.

I once thought, that after the election, it would be possible for the Republican Party to pretend Trump never happened. The American media have a short attention span, and the Republican party would still control at least the House and basically be in charge of at least 30 states. I no longer think that's possible. There's going to have to be some reckoning. I think Cruz is done. Pence is done. I think the 2020 R primary will be between the three prominent Rs who have distanced themselves from Trump--Kasich, Sasse, and Mike Lee. Nikki Haley I think might be in the mix too if she chooses (I don't know if she's endorsed Trump or not, but it seems she's successfully kept her head down.) However, the other possibility is that a Trump based R party, cheered on by the Laura Ingrahams and so forth (given my belief that the party really does have not just a large Trumpy alt-right constituency but that those people are also in the party leadership) which might I guess nominate Pence but heck might go ahead and re-nominate Trump himself. (OK, I don't really see that happening.)

Joe Heck (R-NV) calls for drumpf to quit at a rally for his Senate campaign; one cracked dude in the crowd repeatedly hollers "boo!"

Meanwhile, Romney ignores the drumpf cesspool & condemns the Obama administration for ... North Korean's nuclear tests, wtf?

goes on to deplore drumpf's remarks, how they demean "our women", doesn't join Heck's explicit call for drumpf to quit; DOES call people to get out & campaign for "(one-foot-the-grave) Cresent (Hardy) and Joe" - no mention of the top-of-the-ticket guy
