white supremacists are all for Trump, even volunteering and creating their own PACs to support him
“I’ve been called deplorable for 35 years,” said William Johnson, a Los Angeles attorney who was a Trump delegate in California until his role as head of the white nationalist American Freedom Party was publicized.

“When Donald Trump comes out and says deplorables, it gives some vindication,” said Johnson, who now runs the pro-Trump American National Super PAC, which is funding the robocalls.

Republican Party leaders have steered clear of Duke, leaving him to operate his campaign largely on his own, from his house in Mandeville, a New Orleans suburb.

Inside the older tract home, his living room and dining room are crammed with desks and bookshelves spilling over with his life’s work. An ink jet printer spits out thousands of campaign fliers Duke will be mailing to voters, seeking $50 contributions for a blue hat with the logo, “I’m for Duke & Trump!”

But he bristles at the suggestion that he’s jumping on the Trump train.

“Trump happened because of us,” Duke said, “not the other way around.

we're so sad we can't discriminate anymore:

“It all flipped, so fast,” said Mr. Odgaard, a patrician 70-year-old who favors khakis and boat shoes. “Suddenly, we were in the minority. That was kind of a scary feeling. It makes you wonder where the Christians went.”

The beginning of the end of the Odgaards’ familiar life came Aug. 3, 2013, when Lee Stafford and Jared Ellars arrived at the Odgaards’ gallery, Görtz Haus. The couple were in a panic because the hotel they had booked for their wedding had gone bankrupt two months before the date, and they had already sent the invitations out. Mr. Odgaard spent about 45 minutes showing them the property and figuring out seating, flowers and how many guests needed gluten-free meals. It was only when Mr. Odgaard asked if it was a same-sex wedding that his tone changed, they said.

The Congressional override on the 9/11 legal foundations may have a very interesting side effect, one that has the possibility of fundamentally changing our foreign policy for the better.

If the Executive Branch is this concerned about retribution lawsuits from people in the Middle East, then it may force two very substantial discussions. The first is that it probably will limit the Executive Branch from being the sole determiner of whether we commit military force to a region as the President, the VP, the National Security Advisor and other foreign policy creators will be the one being sued. This could force Congress to actually do what the hell they are charged to do, which is declare war for the nation. Once that decision point has been reached, you now have a much broader base of support and the financial resources to stall out any kind of lawsuit.

The second discussion, I think, will be around how these potential lawsuits constrain our foreign policy. We have had an interventionist foreign policy - meaning we are going to get up in other countries via diplomatic, economic, intelligence and military matters as we see fit - since the end of the Cold War. I can easily see this changing now. A side effect would also concern the moral dimensions of these interventionist actions. There's a good possibility that the constructs of the just war theory will come back into play, and that is going to greatly restrain our interventionist foreign policy aims.

Some info on just war theory here:
http://www.iep.utm.edu/justwar/

I actually applaud Congress for doing this, although I suspect very few of them realize the scope and nature of their decision. I suspect this is why we are seeing such strenuous resistance from the highest ranking officials in the Executive Branch.

i just thought that was interesting because I do view Trump as more of a result of years of neglect of proper governance and respect by Republicans than a singular force.

I don't see this happening. They don't want to make that declaration for fear of political blow-back.

If the strategy is that Congress will do the right thing once they see the consequences of their actions, I'm pretty sure we're gonna need a new strategy.

Nate Silver @NateSilver538
Starting to get some high-quality state polls. They suggest Clinton's in a considerably better position post-debate.

Between the new ads, the debate reference, the WaPo articles, and the increased volume of anecdotes on social media, this narrative FINALLY seems to be getting some national traction. It's not going to change minds in Nebraska, but hopefully it'll do enough damage to keep us out of the disastrous scenario of a Trump upset.

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/downashore/The-debate-moment-that-ignited-this-Philly-womans-tweet-storm.html

"My entire childhood, our mortgage payment, my schooling, was all paid for with casino money," she said in a phone interview. Her mom worked for eight years at the Taj Mahal, before going on to become a social worker, and seeing first hand the effects of unemployment and poverty in the resort. Watching Trump, and knowing how Trump's A.C. empire burst, Brousse said, continues to be surreal.

"It honestly feels like our city's collective, embarrassing, useless, racist, bankrupt uncle is in a position to lead the nation and nobody else understands," she said.

And here's part of the quoted individual's tweetstorm after the debate. She's from AC:

Arielle Brousse @thewordunheard
Trump orchestrated his own mini version of the housing bubble in my hometown. He came in. He prospected. We're left dragging his failures.
11:16 PM - 26 Sep 2016

Arielle Brousse @thewordunheard
The people in my mother's labor union have lost their retirement funds because he built a business based on gold leaf and marquee lighting.
11:18 PM - 26 Sep 2016

Arielle Brousse @thewordunheard
He's an ego. He's a character. He's a joke. But that joke has human cost. It's financially and culturally destroyed the town I grew up in.
11:19 PM - 26 Sep 2016

Arielle Brousse @thewordunheard
And we get to hear him brag about how it means he's a great businessman.
11:19 PM - 26 Sep 2016

Arielle Brousse @thewordunheard
It's insulting. It's gaslighting. To watch a man destroy you, and to hear him tell other people how good and powerful it makes him.
11:22 PM - 26 Sep 2016

Arielle Brousse @thewordunheard
To see them believing it.
11:22 PM - 26 Sep 2016

Arielle Brousse @thewordunheard
Please don't believe it. Please stand on the side of the worker. Please help defeat him.
11:23 PM - 26 Sep 2016

Arielle Brousse @thewordunheard
These stakes are personal to me. Trust me: I have seen firsthand the damage he can do in a home community. A nation would be catastrophe.
