Selection bias, I'm sure if you read the text of James Buchanan speeches you'd find a few gems too.

He said that the memorable/history changing ones speak with eloquence and intention. He did not say that the forgettable or bad Presidents spoke like Trump tweeted.

Oh, I am sure he has some good ones too. What I am saying is, I don't think Trump can even measure up to that. Sure, all of them have said poorly worded things or even foolish things, but that is all Trump is capable of.

I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively, I will build a great, great wall on our southern border. And I will have Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words. Nobody would be tougher on ISIS than Donald Trump. Nobody. I will find — within our military, I will find the General Patton or I will find General MacArthur, I will find the right guy. I will find the guy that’s going to take that military and make it really work. Nobody, nobody will be pushing us around. I will stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons. And we won’t be using a man like Secretary Kerry that has absolutely no concept of negotiation, who’s making a horrible and laughable deal, who’s just being tapped along as they make weapons right now, and then goes into a bicycle race at 72 years old, and falls and breaks his leg. I won’t be doing that. And I promise I will never be in a bicycle race. That I can tell you.

Now, it’s very interesting. Today I heard it. Through stupidity, in a very, very hard core prison, interestingly named Clinton, two vicious murderers, two vicious people escaped, and nobody knows where they are. And a woman was on television this morning, and she said, “You know, Mr. Trump,” and she was telling other people, and I actually called her, and she said, “You know, Mr. Trump, I always was against guns. I didn’t want guns. And now since this happened” — it’s up in the prison area — “my husband and I are finally in agreement, because he wanted the guns. We now have a gun on every table. We’re ready to start shooting.”

I said, “Very interesting.”

So protect the Second Amendment.

Idk, i feel pretty inspired now

He has tremendous difficulty reading prepared speeches, that's for sure. I can't imagine how hard it is for speech writers to write something intelligent in his voice.

will it be weirder if Lynch disregards that "blank spot", too? If I follow you, seems like it would be .... weird ... if she did

there are three potential positions here:

1. Gross negligence is not an applicable standard (apparently it's never been used in cases like this before)
2. It is an applicable standard, but it doesn't seem likely to get a conviction.
3. It is an applicable standard and she was grossly negligent.

I assume that lynch will take one of those 3 positions, probably the first or second.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

I don't feel like going down a pointless rabbit hole, so I'll just nod and move on.

Regarding eloquence though, it is somewhat scary that we have a 20% chance of having our first Twitterer-in-Chief.

It IS the appropriate standard though with respect to the statute you linked above. That is the statute the FBI investigation surrounded, so any decision not to prosecute would have to be number 2.

Even his prepared speeches have been awful. He is so prone to rambling. Nothing he says is poetic. Even the devices he uses over and over he sucks at. Rhetorically, he is obsessed with repetition. Not only does he overuse it, the ideas and words that he repeats are so low brow that it is insulting.

That seems to be correct. But, the fact that (according to my friend that looks at this more closely) gross negligence has never been applied in cases like this (only intent) and that Comer didn't seem to actually apply it at the end of the day makes me think it's more complicated than that.

He doesn't have the gravitas. He is a demagogue who relies on being bombastic and xenophobic. If he has to stick to a script he cannot deliver and he also doesn't have the intellect and humbleness to not ramble or get sidetracked.

So what you guys are saying is drumpf is not and does not remotely resemble anything like a credible adult would identify as a leader of a broom closet, much less the USA. Well said by you all, and amen to that
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Smooth you seem to have an unfavorable opinion of the millions of people supporting Donald Trump
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

Now on the other hand, my favorite political sign which is now posted in the ground along a us route nearby reads. "We do metal roofs! Vote Trump. 555-1212"

Its like a legit campaign sign though. I might take it... I should take it... Yea def gonna take it

this was my favorite thing to do as a young Democrat. steal yard signs. every campaign i volunteered for didn't condone it, but constantly gleefully joked about it(we had a term for it "ninja-ing"; yes we were super cool). in reality, it didn't matter at all and it was pretty stupid.

although i am proud of the time we stole someone's Bush/Cheney yard sign 5 times in 2 weeks and they literally put up a homemade wood sign painted with "You can steal my sign but you can't steal my vote".
I like teh waether
