If trump is the nominee, that image should be plastered on every billboard in October. Fucking losers.

And because of both President and Mrs. Reagan -- in particular Mrs. Reagan -- we started a national conversation. When before nobody would talk about it, nobody wanted to do anything about it, and that too is something that I really appreciate with her very effective, low key advocacy but it penetrated the public conscious and people began to say, 'Hey, we have to do something about this too.'"

Wow...

This is really horrible. And there is simply no plausible excuse for HRC on this. I mean, I know that any of the Republican candidates would be worse, and that's good enough for me, but this is truly horrible by Hillary. Scumbaggery stuff here.

And while I'm barely old enough to remember, I do surely know better than this.

No excuse.

To be fair to Mrs Reagan, she was concerned. Saint Ronnie didn't give two fucks

Clinton apologized.

She was "concerned". Not concerned enough to turn down pleas from good friend Rock Hudson to do something more about it.

Also, in case anyone forgot, Saint Reagan and his staff thought the whole situation was just hilarious:

She's spot on and he's the candidate the republicans deserve. I hope it's the death of them.

The Dude wrote:You are a literal dolt and hindrance to society if you support trump

It's unfathomable to me. I just do not get it. And I understand a lot of the anger and disaffection, but for the life of me watching Trump speak I cannot imagine seeing that and thinking - wow, that's the answer to our problems.

Going back to what the party should do, Brantt suggested earlier that Cruz is smart enough to know wresting the nomination for Trump is doomed to end in failure. I really don't care. I don't care if taking the nomination from Trump guarantees Hillary's election. And I think/hope Cruz and most other Republican elites don't either. First of all, she's going to beat him anyway 9 times out of 10. Secondly I have no interest in him being president of the United States. Of the few things I'm fairly certain he actually believes - anti immigration, anti free trade, skeptical toward free speech and a free press - I couldn't be more opposed. Every thing else is open to negotiation, and some of his policy preferences are probably closer to mine than Hillary's are on some issues, but who knows where he'll take stands and what he'll feel on a given day. Third his effect on the American political discourse is disgusting and horrifying and really needs to be called out especially by my side. I guess from what I saw on Twitter Cruz/Rubio/Kasich each at least took half stances against Trump in the blame game for this. Parts of the online conservative media and some, though not all, at Fox News are so complicit in this shit it needs to be said. Really hope we manage to stop him from being nominated, and then hold a week long festival naming and shaming the Hannity/Bolling/Tantaros/Breitbart/Newsmax/Rush crowd. Fucking pieces of shit. Fourth if he actually wins the nomination we have to either own or explicitly disown his views for decades to come. It's hard enough winning elections in the US losing blacks 90-10 and Hispanics 2-1. Completely alienating Hispanics would be a great thing to do if your goal was to make sure we never win another national election. So yeah, fuck it. Take the nomination from him by any means necessary, and let the chips fall where they may.

jh, your party is just going to have to bite the bullet on this and make sure Trump does not leave the convention as the nominee. I said a few weeks ago that I fear the worst if he was to be allowed to spew his nonsense in a general election. What we saw tonight will pale in comparison to the sort of violence we will see come this Summer.

Yeah, we joke around here about him and others but the Republicans simply can not let Trump be the nominee of their party. It would be disastrous.

It's just... We have a less successful Berlusconi as the probable nominee for 1 of the 2 major partiea.

A new party emerges? There will always be 2. It's quite obvious the current structure of the party is pretty fucked. It certainly wouldn't be the first time it's happened in this country.

It's not the death knell but the national party needs to utterly stop the garbage. They have to. I mean, come on.

The states will continue to dominate and go nuts.

Honest question, how did trump even get the party's support to primary as a republican?

If Rubio loses Florida Tuesday I'll probably write some 10000 word post over the course of the next week or two about everything that has gone wrong in the past few decades to lead to this, but the party has been so weakened by McCain Feingold and the diffusion of media and the diffusion of campaign cash and whatnot that there's no core to stand up against what is obviously horrific. I very much doubt if Trump wins the nomination that whatever comes next from the right, broadly speaking, in America will be more palatable to left leaning posters here. It will be more populist, more nationalist, more xenophobic, less pro-business, more like the European right than the American right. So maybe you win some if you're first and foremost lefty for econ reasons, but it's going to be a very unhealthy discourse. A lot worse than it has been.

Got about four days left to save the Republic.
