Turkey and Jordan. Turkey is electing a power hungry madman, though
I just read an Interesting esquire story...basically saying all these Middle East countries sponsor terrorism so that the masses in their own country don't rebel against the incredibly repressive economic systems in place there; basically create a diversion with the west feeling the brunt. The US knows this and permits it to happen. Why? Better to play along and keep the Middle East stable than risk a disruption in oil supply. If you want to cripple terrorist organizations than create sanctions, freeze assets and forcibly bankrupt these regimes....the question is will the west do that knowing the risk of mass instability in the region
We're allies with the Saudis who help to fund Salafis across the globe, including the IS.

I thought this was pretty common knowledge. Draught definitely destabilized the area.
Get used to it because there will be many other areas destabilized for the same reason. The fact that large companies are going around the globe buying up water supplies and privatizing them will only make matters much worse. Add in the fact that our government and other governments are refusing to help countries that do not allow this privatization as a condition of getting help will make us a target in even more countries. If think being poor pisses people off, wait til they can't afford water to drink.
It was good, funny and memorable. But it's not an "oh, I should be taking this guy more seriously than I am" moment, or a sharp contrast to Clinton, who also expressed support for raising taxes on the rich during the debate.
BERNIE SANDERS: I don't know the difference on guns between us. But I believe coming from a state that has virtually no gun control, I believe that I am in position to reach out to the 60% or 70% of the American people who agree with us on those issues. The problem, people all over this country — not you, secretary Clinton — are shouting at each other. And what we need to do is bring people together to work on the agreement where there is broad consensus and that's what I intend to do.
Primary voters aren't interested in "consensus" on the issue. They want fewer people to die from gun violence. Moreover, the reference to Clinton shouting about the issue was a weird strategic blunder.
