We hardly ever use the "big computer." I use my maxi-pad and Mrs. Smitty uses her mini-pad. (We're so funny, lol, omg). The big computer is really old. Like fifteen years I think.

Mrs. Smitty came up with those names. She's a riot, like Alice Kramden.

I do one of those PSSC leagues for volleyball and my team is kind of a random assortment of people. We went out to get a drink afterwards and a girl took her phone out and had a social media folder with 8 apps in it. Pretty sure I have facebook/twitter. When did i get so old

Also another one said she went to PSU too and when did I graduate (2008). Her, "i think i graduated 10th grade in 2008" D:

Teaching college students is consistently frightening on the feeling old side of things. On the one hand they look like adults and occasionally act like them. On the other hand the last essay I assigned was something I read in high school as a sophomore - when I mentioned this I realized the people in my class were about three years old when I first read it.

Giving my final exam right now. The essay question has the word contradictions in it.

Kid just raised his hand asking, "What do you mean by contradictions?" in a way that makes me pretty sure he doesn't know what the word contradictions means. College!

I know, right?

Burton/Hoya's posts reminded me of when I was nuzzled by the cute semi-drunk 9th grade daughter of a college prof at an after-exams party my senior year. Creepy/tantalizing, you betcha. Unfortunately - no, no, no, fortunately - she put her move on right in the conversation pit of prof's place (conversation pits: they had those then).

Pretty sure she was sent to her room....

I did pretty well in the guy's course but he did NOT ask me about my grad school plans

One kid in my grad class got up and asked the professor how to spell a word one time.

Our younger undergrads don't remember 9/11. I'm older than many of their parents. Some students envy me because I got to go to college in the 80s, when things were a lot freer on campuses.
