Get a Roland or Yamaha kit. They've really figured out electronic drums in the past decade. I can give you lessons over Hangouts.

Cool. Do you have any specific suggestions? I like the idea of acoustic drums because they're cool an all, but other than that, it’s not practical for where I live and I’m not going to be playing in bands or anything. Just maybe recording stuff and otherwise rocking out by myself, so I guess it doesn’t matter too much.

Lansdale is pretty cool. Has a bit of a small town country vibe even though it's just another suburban town in a sea of them.

In the price range you're talking about, you're probably looking at one of the older twins/townhouses. Which is fine, that's what I have, though I'd kill a hobo for a second bathroom now that I have kids.

Let me know if you have any more specific questions.

My sister and brother in law live there. That's where I stay when I visit. When I get there I can stop by your place and you can feed me and give me beer.

One bathroom... you ain't getting beer (unless you bring a bucket or something).

Basically I enjoy food and would like to know if there is a good bar or bottle shop in town. I am a simple man.

i think Round Guys is in Lansdale. they're solid. Pizza Pub is generally trash but they have good cheap beers and pretty solid wings.

I have a Yamaha DTX 560 that I bought at Guitar Center as a floor demo. It was crazy cheap, and I wouldn't have ever made the leap to e-drums if I hadn't gotten such a good deal. I love it for playing in pit orchestras and giving lessons to my sons. There are "lessons" built into the trigger module, but I haven't really explored those.

Yamaha has since updated the series to 402, 502, 702, etc. I replaced the trigger module with the newer 502 model, and there's pretty much nothing this kit can't do.

Honestly, go to GC or Sam Ash and sit down and play any of the Roland or Yamaha kits. They're always on display, and they're always on sale. I wouldn't bother with the cheaper Alesis options. Check out this review of what I have.
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

didn't get around to it. My brother-in-law is the guy last night with the beard/red hat - he is their first full-time employee. I will stop by next time I am in town and will let you know.

Ok great. I actually really like it there. The Chief IPA is solid. They had a chocolate stout that was really great too. The new saison was good as well.

You can also bring your own food, games, dogs, whatever. It rocks.

I'm not much of a goer-outer and I'm not into craft beer so I'm not the best guy to ask.

I have been to Round Guys but really couldn't comment on the quality of their beers. They had a drag show the night I went though so there's that. It's easy walking distance from the center of the borough where I live.

There are plenty of good, though not high end, restaurants around, especially if you consider the proximity to Hatfield, North Wales, Upper Gwynedd, etc.

When I first moved to Lansdale the downtown area was pretty nice and contributed to the small town feel. It got hit hard by the recession but has recovered somewhat the last couple of years.

My dad used to do that run with some college buddies every year. It was a good time then, probably a good time now.
