fair enough as I am also very upset that we are still in Iraq and Afghanistan but do you honestly believe that Romney could have ended this clusterfuck?

He and the Republicans wouldn't have ended, wouldn't have wanted to, and don't want to. It's just some kind of political points thing. jh is not upset we are there; he thinks we SHOULD be there. Obama agrees with him, the bastard!

yeah, i'm not sure the point here. Other than the other multiples of dozens of reasons to have voted for Obama over Romney, he WAS right. Now he's wrong. Him being wrong aligns him with the Republican party leaders and base and not with HIS base or HIS party. We should be mad at him, you shouldn't be going 'lol romney was right!'. No, Obama coming to that point of view doesn't make the view the correct one. It just makes him on the wrong side.

And if you have an opinion, you should KEEP IT.

This was obvious once they tried to change the story 4 times within the first 24 hours.

Where is the special committee on this?

There are plenty of worthwhile Obama foreign policy points of debate you could pick and you decide to harp on the least meaningful one. That Rutgers is quite a school!

Romney's an ass, and not POTUS

5,000 troops isn't "troops". Just ask McCain or Candidate (he IS still a candidate, right?) Graham

Get back to us when you have something to say about Guantanemo, or drones, or universal surveillance, or.....
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

I think we should come to terms that we will always be at constant war and the idea of a super power experiencing any sort of extended peace time is naive. I just think we should be economically sensible about it.

ReadingPhilly wrote:pacino, what do you think the of the mayor candidates in reading having commuter rail service fairly high on their to do list?

that's great but it really would take a concerted effort on a state and federal level to actually get that thing up and running. we've had a very nice rebuilt station at 6th and franklin just sitting there empty because the commuter rail fell by the wayside for both Rendell and Corbett and the feds determined other rail lines were more feasible at the time. The mayor can only do so much. I mean it was first proprosed in 1998, I think, to be started in 2000 and ready by 2008.

FWIW, I don't know why the hell anyone would vote for Wally Scott. He seems like a fool. McHale or Graham seem like far better options who actually seem to know what the heck they'd do. I'd have voted for corrupt-ass Spencer again, FWIW. I did the first time but don't live in the city limits now to have a say.

Matt Yglesias argues we should increase the deficit:
At the moment, the interest rate the government has to pay on bonds is extremely low — 2 percent for a 10-year bond, and just under 3 percent for a 30-year bond. That means even a project with a pretty low rate of return would be worth borrowing money to do. And if for some reason you take the view that there are literally no useful infrastructure projects the government could undertake, we could simply tax people less.

The sad truth is that the deficit has fallen so rapidly not because of any brilliant scheme on the part of the White House, but because the political system is operating in a dysfunctional way. Republicans and Democrats disagree, naturally, as to whether tax cuts or spending hikes would be better, so the natural thing to do would be to compromise on a little of both. Instead, between the fiscal cliff and sequestration we "compromised" on doing exactly the opposite.

Christie losing supportin NJ:
Garden State voter support for Christie's White House bid has dropped by more than half in the past two months, according to a Rutgers-Eagleton poll released Thursday, which puts his support at his run at just 5%. That's down from the 12% he enjoyed in the poll's August survey of registered Republican voters.

And nearly two-thirds of Republican voters in the state said Christie should end his presidential campaign, which has struggled to get off the ground and gain momentum.

Trump's support, meanwhile, has surged to 32% in New Jersey, up from 21% in August.

Four other presidential contenders now fill the gap between Trump and Christie, with results mimicking those of national surveys.

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and Marco Rubio took second and third place in New Jersey with 13% each while Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas has 6% of support and former tech CEO Carly Fiorina takes 5%.

Also, Ben Carson is sort of pausing his campaign while he goes on a book tour. This means the money he gets will be his, not his campaign's. How transparent is this guy?

A Hillary Clinton/Julian Castro ticket would be almost unbeatable, in my opinion.

Castro will be the first Latino-American president.
