Syrias as a heart attack: Electronic projects and politics

Agree with your point about people knowing nothing about politics. Talked to a few people at the bar last night who didnt know there was a debate, didn't know what the election was for, didn't know when the actual was, and didn't know if Hillary was a D or R. This country man.
Do you think April is too early for a Roger Dorn night?

Doll Is Mine wrote:All Bernie wants is for lots and lots of Democrats to come out and vote so they can take back the Senate, which is very likely based on how many Republicans are defending their seats in 2016.

The House is a problem due to Republicans rigging the system but Democrats need to start chipping away there as well.

I do wonder in some of these states like California if all the new voters changes things a bit in some of these House races.

There are a lot of people out there who seem to think we need someone who "isn't a politician." Like political parties, there's a strong sense in political rhetoric that "politician" (and thus by inference politics) are pejoratives. (I'd say at least 50% of the criticism here launched at JH reflect this attitude.) So, we get either no chancers like Bernie and Rand, or we get people who are absolutely unqualified like Trump, Carson, and Fiorina gaining a lot of popularity. The latter is really dumb--you wouldn't hire someone to fix your car because "she's not a mechanic" or someone to operate on you because "he's not a surgeon". That would be idiotic. (The irony here is that I think one legitimate criticism of Obama's Presidency involves his lack of experience. And yet, how many of those people are now voting for Fiorina?)

I can't think of one example of someone who achieved anything politically who was not in some sense or other a real politician. Indeed, many great political leaders had little success in any other field.

I'm not really 100% sure either.

300 troops being sent to Cameroon to fight Boko Haram

Congress will likely never vote on this

refugee camps are terrible places

Meanwhile, in Germany, Merkel is losing popularity amongst her base due to her decision to be a human being and bring in refugees.

Merkel is not known for her radicalism, pursuing safety-first policies at almost every turn, and it seems like she did not expect the popular support for taking in refugees to evaporate so quickly.

The situation is a strange reversal of Merkel's previous position. While she has been heavily criticized outside Germany for her handling of Greece's economic crisis, and is seen as the head cheerleader of the eurozone's austerity policies, those positions haven't dented her popularity at home. In fact, they're overwhelmingly popular.

Now, the tables have turned, and a policy that's gaining her plaudits from around the world could end up seriously damaging her domestic strength

What goes around, comes around, to a certain extent.
Another recent poll from Wednesday showed, however, that Germans living in eastern states were much more skeptical about Merkel's welcoming policy on refugees.

Only 31 percent of respondents in eastern states were in favor of her actions, as against 44 percent in the west, the survey for "Focus" magazine showed.

Overall, 48 percent of Germans were dissatisfied with the government's handling of the crisis, as against 41 percent who support Merkel's response, according to the poll.

eastern states are generally less populous and more rural and hasn't recovered and flourished the same way as the rest of Germany, fwiw.

Host Jan Mickelson began by bemoaning that the “criminal justice system has been taken over by progressives.” In order to fight back, he argued, conservatives should look to the biblical Book of Exodus. “It says, if a person steals, they have to pay it back two-fold, four-fold,” Mickelson explained. “If they don’t have anything, we’re supposed to take them down and sell them.”

Mickelson went on to argue why jails, which he claimed are a “pagan invention,” are inferior to slavery: “We indenture them and they have to spend their time not sitting on their stump in a jail cell, they’re supposed to be working off the debt.”
“Wouldn’t that be a better choice?” the host asked.

“Well, it really would be,” Huckabee replied without missing a beat. “Sometimes the best way to deal with a nonviolent criminal behavior is what you just suggested.”

Does that matter? Hillary has a much smaller pool of people to become new followers. I think that most social media trends are irrelevant.
