Cool chart. What's amazing is that, percentage wise, it seems like you're as likely to own a single detached house in Philly as you are a mobile home in Mesa.

you can tell the story about the time you were with your mom at the phillies game and you saw some dude who called you by your "screen name" and your mom thought you were in AA

I had to go to AA in college because I was caught underage drinking. Two sessions. The counselor asked everyone to put a mark on their hand for every acoholic beverage imbibed. I had about seven or eight drinks at a party that night. Really not that much. I went to the meeting the next day and everybody went around the circle letting the counselor know how many they had the night prior. People sheepishly whispered to the counselor whether they two or three and were ashamed of themselves. I told everyone I had five. I don't know why I lied. But there audible gasps at a guy in college having five beers at a party.

Guess I could tell Trebek that, but I don't know.

Slate ran a story today on Cornell's White Library, describing it as The Kind of Place Book Lovers Dream About.

I'm here to tell you the reporter is correct. Also from experience that it could have as easily been titled The Kind of Place Book Readers Dream Within.

If you've ever seen the movie 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, it's kind of like the inside of Nemo's submariine. In some of those window bays are some of the most comfortable reading chairs ever devised.
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Got my staples out today and I'm officially off the whole soft foods diet (though I had been mixing in some firmer foods the last few days.) Also drinking beer again, first I've had since Labor day weekend. Thinking about having a second Golden Monkey. Also, going back to class on Thursday.

Scar still looks pretty nasty--it goes from just over my navel down to my pubes. If I make it to the next BSG day (assuming there is one) I'll show everyone--the top 2/3 anyway.

I had to do the court ordered AA in addition to outpatient rehab to be eligible for ARD myself. Those that were in my outpatient rehab classes were cool as hell. They respected my drug and alcohol binge stories. They were mostly middle to upper middle class mid 20s to mid 40s and wanted to party with this crazy 20 year old upon completion. The counselor told everyone that if alcohol or drugs caused a problem in your life regardless of the need to do it everyday you were considered an addict or alcoholic.

Well those people in AA were not so nice to me. They didn't quite appreciate the epic stories and were pissed that I was there because I would drink to party and could go days or even a week without drinking. I would also get good grades, hold a job and maintain relationships. They could've converted me to a sober lifestyle, if they were nice and friendly. They basically told me I wasn't a real alcoholic.
