My cousin had a kid. She named it Ward, which is her mother's maiden name. When we get together down the shore, ~75% of the people there have the last name Ward. Feel like this kid is gonna be confused as fuck.

My friend's sister's maiden name is Jordan. Her son's name is Jordan. Another one: Adam. Yeah. It's a thing.

My gf's sister's friend did the same thing. Prob the same person actually.

In my cousin's situation, she was never a Ward. It's her mom's old last name, so the baby's grandmother.

But they live down the shore year round within 10 mins of my grandma and three of her mother's siblings, all of whom have the last name Ward. We see each other all the time. Just struck me as kinda weird, though I guess maybe a nice thought.

so what happens when she has an ugly divorce and decides she and the kid should drop the husband's last name and go back to her original one
