I saw him open up for Paul Simon at Hershey oh, I guess it was 10 years ago. The music was great but his song intro talks were super awkward. They had him signing autographs at intermission and I got him to sign a copy of Pet Sounds. A couple of people after me, they closed the line and resumed the show.
This one lady walks up to him and says, "will you sign for me?" He takes her CD, and just stares at it. For about a minute or two.. His handler takes it out of his hands, hands it back, and says, "sorry, mam, not tonight." It was almost as if there was an off switch and he had been deactivated.
The man is obviously not well. I know it's because of all the drugs in the 60's, and probably the abuse he had at the hands of his father. Still, something's not right. Yet they keep pushing him out there for fan interactions and stuff. I wonder if he would rather just play and sing on stage and let someone else take care of the MC'ing for the shows.

To demonstrate the earlier error of his ways, Mr. Phillips said he even snorted Palcohol to prove that it was not an effective or quick way to get drunk, which he said he had not done before he made his earlier claims. The experience was, in a word, unpleasant.
“It would take you an hour of pain to ingest the equivalent of one drink,” Mr. Phillips said in an interview. “It really burns.” Palcohol’s website now says that snorting would be impractical and unpleasant.
