Grand Jury Recommends Criminal Charges Against Attorney General Kathleen Kane - Seems kinda flimsy, but not an ideal thing to have happen to you as Attorney General. Her dropping that investigation into the Philly pols taking cash still seems more irksome.

She's a trip, for sure. I do sort of like this quote from her lawyer, though:

In his statement Thursday, Davis questioned how The Inquirer learned about the grand jury's recommendation: "I wonder why the supervising judge who appointed the special prosecutor to investigate the attorney general hasn't initiated a grand jury investigation of this leak or any of the other previous leaks from this same grand jury process."

i do wonder how that works. grand jury leaks happen all the time, but very few get followed up the chain to the source of the leak.

in any event, the Philadelphia cash thing WAS much worse. I dont see how anything legally will happen as a result of this particular thing except that her political aspirations get destroyed.

I've travelled back and forth between the US and Europe 8 times since I moved here. Every single time I've gone through the London airport, 16 times in all, I have had my bags taken apart and searched and/or myself searched. That changed this time as I travelled on the day of this french terrorist thing. I was half expecting to be strip searched, but not even a simple bag check. I guess they had other things to worry about.

I don't think I've ever seen a year where people cared so much about U6 unemployment numbers. So many caring people out there for the long-term unemployed!

I haven't heard much about it this year. Not nearly as much as in 2010, 2011 or 2012.

Benghazi is the smoke screen they'll try to throw up (again) to hide the fact that they're going to try to dismantle social security yet again. They will succeed in the long run because they are relentless and they almost never give in on the subject. Over time, they will nickel and dime it until it's worthless and doesn't do what it once did.

It's almost like they try to sabotage shit they don't like instead of turning it into policy they do. It's much more effective to attack a bad program than point to ones that are working because people think government "should" work because they don't realize how incredibly complex things like social security and health care are.

It's certainly been working. They shut down the government in a glorified hissy fit and still won the Senate.
