At some point in the next 24 hours I will put together a list of useful sites for ye to look at for decent coverage and commentary on the Scottish Referendum, as I'm fairly sure the psephologists amongst you will be interested. I'm pro-independence, mind, but most of the stuff I present should focus on relevant figures and debating issues.

At the moment, I'd describe myself as cautiously optimistic of a Yes vote. However it goes down on September 18, it will be close.

Would an independent Scotland stay in the EU? Would it adopt the Euro? It would be ironic if England/Wales left the EU, and an independent Scotland stayed in.

I'm not sure the latest reactionary thoughtbubble re: ACA - that there will be nightmarish marketplace problems due to insurers' lack of confirmation about ACA enrollees' status - will have much tub-life:

Cincinnati.com wrote:Kroger helps customers move to health care exchanges for meds (1/2/14)

Kroger announced Thursday its pharmacies will provide prescription medication to customers who have enrolled in health care exchanges but do not yet have identification information from an insurer....

“Every January, our pharmacists and technicians help customers navigate through new plan transitions,” said Lincoln Lutz, Kroger’s vice president of pharmacy....

...Kroger’s announcement follows similar moves by Walgreen’s, CVS and other major pharmacy chains.

In short: "business as usual, nothing to see here"

Yep, he was accused of planning to "overthrow the state." They starved 120 hunting dogs for 5 days and threw his uncle into the pit.

Republican thought leader, Peter King:

Appearing on Fox News Channel on Sunday, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) dismissed members of Congress calling for the National Security Agency to reform its information gathering practices. He insisted that even members of Congress should be monitored by the NSA, just like every other American, in case they are “talking to an Al Qaeda leader in Iraq or Afghanistan.

not that a police state is the domain of idiot conservatives, tho...

King is a really odd duck. I'm not sure there's a single Republican more at odds with the trending directions of his party: he's a super-hawk on security state issues, and more pro-labor than probably any other Republican alive. He's a pretty good retail politician but not media-friendly: I don't think he's actually an idiot, though he's accomplished at playing one on TV.

Basically the anti-Cruz/Paul, which means on balance I wish him well.

Not sure why one would classify King as a Republican thought leader because I don't think he has any followers, but any time his name comes up is a good excuse to post this article from a few years ago by Steve Kornacki - The fall of the Nassau Republican machine and the rise of Homeland Security chair Peter King

dajafi probably read it at the time, and not sure how many others would enjoy the details, but it's a good read.
