And we'll never be RANDOM...It don't run in our blood

My mom got me 2 tickets to a Phils Spring Training game for my birthday for her and I to go. Am I an asshole for kinda not wanting to go? I'll have to take two days off from work, pay for the plane, a hotel room, and whatever else. Seems awfully presumptuous.

Not an asshole for feeling that way, but I'd make it work anyway.

In 10 years, you will still remember that gift, and all the "downsides" to the gift won't matter. Just go.

1. Like some bush.
2. Baby Boomers: 1945-1964
Gen X-1965-1984 (or so)
Millennials-1985-2004

Of course, what this reveals is there are pretty big differences in expectations and experiences between old Gen Xers such as myself and their younger peers. Sort of like Seinfeld v. Friends.

i'd say it depends on the relationship you have with your mom, but you just can't put a value on an experience like this.

i've been lucky enough to spend 2 of my past 5 ST trips with my dad, and i can't tell you how happy i am that i did it.

i don't think she's being presumptuous, but i do think it would be nice if she offered to split the cost.

and yes, not wanting to go to ST, no matter the reason, makes you an unbelievable asshole.
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

kind of a waste for such a short trip. i'd ask her to see if she'll extend it a day or two

I'm pretty sympathetic to Pratt here. if my Mom pulled that, it would require me cancelling another trip

Four total days, including the weekend. I think that's ample time.

And yeah, thinking about it, I'm being an asshole.

I honestly can't remember. Why did the term Freedom Fries come about?

I'm not sure but I think it's because the Dixie Chicks moved to France after they criticized George Bush for invading Iraq.

It was France didn't join the "coalition" to go into Iraq

It would've pissed off the French more if we started calling all fries Belgian Fries.
