Haha, I got dis-engaged in '88 and had a "reception without a wedding". Had nothing paid for, but it seemed like a fun thing to do. I recently scanned the wrinkled paper invite to a PDF. If I can figure out how to convert a pdf to a jpg or gif I'll post it.

check the year. it was either a complete console (like a PONG) or super 8 film. Can't remember if anybody brough anything at all, TBH. I doubt it.

I am emotionally drained. Got a call from my sister at 8 this morning, clearly upset, telling me she was sorry saying goodbye. I kept pressing her to stop and tell me what was wrong and tell me where she was. She said she was driving and she said her marriage was ruined and then she said goodbye again and hung up. I immediately called back and she didn't answer. I called my brother-in-law and didn't get an answer so I called my other sister trying to find out what happened. She had gotten a similar call and we were both extremely worried that my sister was suicidal so I called the police drove over to her house. The cops were over there and we eventually figured out she was heading to my brother-in-law's parents. Got in touch with the local police there to make sure she didn't leave and me, my brother-in-law, and 4 of their kids drove the hour or so down to New Holland.

My brother-in-law and had I talked on the way down so I had an understanding of his desire for a divorce. We get there and the local police had left. Apparently she was going to drive down to my brother's place in Tennessee to try and get her head right and didn't realize we were all naturally thinking the worse. She doesn't want to talk to him because she can't handle him being angry and arguing with her right now, and he doesn't want to talk to her for much the same reason, he doesn't want to yell at her and knows he will, making me the sort of de facto go between.. So There I am, sitting in my brother-in-law's parent's sunroom talking to my sister about her marital problems and trying to explain to her/convince her of why we thought she was suicidal and that while taking some time to get her head right is probably good, going to Tennessee out of the blue is not the best way to go about it. She agrees but is not sure she can go home right now and so we leave it at that. We leave it in that muddled, grey area and my brother-in-law drive back home. I let him vent on me on the way back and try to get across that I'm not going to take sides between the two because I trust both of them, I consider him to be family as much as I do my sister, and try to get them to talk to a counselor because they need someone impartial and properly trained to work through this.
