In their defense (?) we were there for 45 minutes when the seller called. He was expecting 30. Seriously.

There was a guy at the bar tonight who had an LFC t-shirt on and a tattoo of the state of New Jersey filled in like the Irish flag

I was in awe

Plausible deniability. They don't want anyone to find the bodies until after the sale closes.

I love when people's stories include "from what I can recall" because that normally means they were fucked up during that point in time without actually admitting to it.

My upstairs neighbor has been an absolute disaster. The walls here are paper thin as it is and you can hear your neighbors just having normal conversations a lot of times. Several times in the last couple of weeks she'll stumble home at 3 or 4 in the morning with her friends, stomping up and down the stairs, slamming doors and just generally be loud as hell and inconsiderate and I can't sleep. I woke up 15 minutes ago to what sounded like a vacuum hose being dragged up the stairs. This kept going on. Sure enough, I look outside and there's a 24 hr emergency service and they're now running their loud equipment. I don't think I even want to know what was so bad that they had to come at 4 am to fix. I just hope they fix it so it doesn't fall through into my apartment.

Those are awful people, I'm surprised a short sale still has people living there but that's the second time this week I've heard of the sellers messing up a short sale.

what is wrong about 'spending too much time' in the house you plan on living in for the next 30 years???? i dont follow

Maybe they thought going through the underwear drawer was a bit much.

selling a house while having young kids is one of the most stressful possible things you can do. I would not wish that on anyone. I think the sellers were being a short sighted because if someone's spending 45 minutes in a house, they're almost certainly interested. The exquisite pain of having to clean up and clear out your house with kids every time there is a showing could be over soon. But when the kids are cranky and want to go home, people do stupid things, like call their answering machine (and I thought the only point of an answering machine post 2009 was as a plot device for Breaking Bad).

I think it's important to spend a lot of time in the house you're considering spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on, as pacino said. Not for nothing though, I can't recall ever spending anywhere close to 30 minutes, let alone 45 minutes in a house I was touring. What were you doing in there? Honest question, maybe I should be testing some obvious things that I haven't thought of (are you turning on the stove to make sure the burners work, the faucets to make sure you get hot water, etc.?)

45 minutes is not a lot of time to spend in a house you've never seen before when you are considering spending the rest of your life and wages there. 11 rooms, three bathrooms, a pool, and a yard at a few minutes each adds up. I think we spend at least 30 minutes at open houses, too.

Their kids are high school and college age. The son was standing in the driveway at one point. Probably tapping his foot with his arms crossed and looking at his watch. Except no one wears watches.

There's more to the story: there's a gas pipeline that runs between this house and the neighbor's. We took a second tour of the house and also asked the seller to call 811 to put up flags to see how much of the half-acre of land could actually be used (we would need an additional fence and permission to put up a swing set). They knew we were very interested. We wanted to make sure it was the right house. They obviously didn't like that they had to cooperate with us.

It's their right to refuse. I don't have to agree with it.

i went to parents' night at the middle school on Wed night...the school is a goddamn palace. it's as big as my high school was when i went there, if not slightly larger, and everything is brand-new.

not sure i'm a fan of homework only counting for 5% and hten counting for 0% in high school, though.

There are studies that show it is pretty useless.

I didn't say bedrooms, if that's what you're confused about.

"I just bought a 2-bedroom house, but I think I get to decide how many bedrooms there are, don't you? "Fuck you, real estate lady! This bedroom has an oven in it! This bedroom's got a lot of people sitting around watching TV. This bedroom's over in that guy's house! Sir, you have one of my bedrooms, are you aware? Don't decorate it!"- Hedberg

4 bedrooms, 3 baths, 11 rooms in total is a pretty big house.
