Looks like support for Weiner is dying. I'd like for him to make the runoff with Quinn because it's my (possibly wrong) impression that Thompson and especially de Blasio would be disasters as mayor, and it seems like she's gonna have a hard time beating either of them in a runoff. Thompson is up 50-40% on Quinn in a runoff. de Blasio wasn't asked in runoffs, though he will be moving forward.

Man, if Weiner can't get support from Eliot Spitzer who can he count on?

Buono's LG choice is embarrassing. Random union leader who was picked because she's Latina.

The press had the story today that she didn't vote in the 2007, 2009 or 2011 state elections. She also didn't vote in a single primary, state or federal, until 2012. Hilarious.

Whatever, I guess when you're losing by 30 points you might as well demonstrate poor judgment in picking your running mate in the hopes of closing the gap.

She has never had a chance either . She has the least support around here I've ever seen a Democrat running for state office get. Primary or general.

She never had a chance, but a lot of people thought when she took on the race it was a smart move to run statewide, try to make it closer than the polls suggested at the start, and get her name at the top of the list for 2017 sort of like McGreevey did for overperforming expectations and nearly beating Whitman in 1997.

Instead her campaign has been notable for three things: the ridiculous state party chair flap where she tried to pick the guy who led a failed coup to oust Oliver as Assembly Speaker (great choice to unite the party!), fundraising so poor that she isn't able to take full advantage of New Jersey's generous matching funds program, and now this LG pick.

Who are these people? Maybe within her own campaign, but otherwise she's been a trivia answer from the get-go. She has no coverage, no support of her party and is basically out there because it would be embarrassing to run a blank slate. She's 60 years old, her future was already in her past.

It was something people (the smattering of political consultants and state poli sci profs who get quoted over and over making banal observations on state politics in Ledger/Record/Asbury Park Press articles) were talking about back at the start of the year when it became clear she was going to be the Dem nominee - here's one example

I think McGreevey and Whitman had less name recognition their first time around than Buono.

The campaign staff awoke to see their former intern, Olivia Nuzzi, on the front cover of the Daily News. Inside the paper was an article bylined by Nuzzi in which she told a rather unflattering tale of her experience working on Anthony Weiner’s mayoral bid.

Now, Team Weiner is firing back. TPM called Weiner’s communications director Barbara Morgan to discuss an unrelated story Tuesday and she went off on a curse-filled rant about Nuzzi, describing her as a fame hungry “bitch” who “sucked” at her job. Morgan also called Nuzzi a “slutbag,” “twat,” and “cunt” while threatening to sue her.

It's Election Day in Zimbabwe. I'm not sure if this is expected to be actually contested, but if they're holding a real election, it'd be beautiful if Mugabe losing would count.

If not, hopefully hell is a real thing.

Well, you need to have direct contact with said enemy with whom you would feed information to with intention, so this was never really going to stick. the other things will have him in the clink for decades I suspect.

In VA the governor continues to implode. He is sorry, he returned the gifts (including the Rolex, but not sure how he returns the posh wedding event his daughter was granted), but he maintains that he did nothing really wrong. Typical political spin - sorry to bring shame on the great commonwealth of Virginia and unduly bring scrutiny to its citizens - by admitting no ethical lapse. The biggest issue is that there are not ethical laws on the books, so corruption is within the bounds of acceptability for the office of the governor and other top state officials.
