when I was whatever little age, I really loved that show and then right in the middle of one episode, I remember just changing my mind and deciding it was stupid and never watched it again. all downhill from there

when your friends have a kid, are you expected to ask to see it or do you just wait for them to invite you over to meet it or look at it or whatever?

we asked our guy friends, but all the girl friends were asking a lot

if it is a close friend i do my best to visit them in the hospital.

I was going to include that in my question, but I think it'd be too pushy. they are close friends but they have plenty of family and all that. I don't think they'd want me there

yeah having that many people in the hospital is a huge pain. the room is usually small, and we had to share it with someone else half the stay, so it's just a big pain.

Whenever you go, make sure that you ask to watch her feed it.

If I were you I'd consider changing this practice. When people are in the hospital with a newborn, they're chiefly interested in A) sleep and B) getting home.

Yes. I agree. When my son was born, the next day we had an endless stream of visitors and while it was really great to see everyone, it was kinda exhausting and a relief when it was over.

I mean thinking back on it I do remember all of my friends that stopped by and I don't resent any of them for coming, the whole process is just a lot to deal with.

yeah the family was enough, then we also had the nurse and midwife and lactation consultant on top of that.

if they ask taht's a different story. just saying i would never ask them in that situation. our midwife actually said to keep the visitors to a minimum the first week or two

you all seem like miserable people with cruddy friends.

or we all just hate people more than you.

If they invite you, that's cool, and bringing food or whatever is great.

Although, I might suggest that if they invite you in advance of the delivery, you might call ahead and find out if they still want visitors or if they'd rather you stop by after they're home. First time parents never know what they're getting into.

One big factor is the length of the hospital stay. For vaginal delivery, you're basically there two days. So, really, not much time for anyone visit. C-Section is longer, so that changes the dynamic some. But remember, new parents are pretty tired, and if it was a C-Section, recovery can be longer. So, I'd wait at least a week until after the baby comes home before asking to see it. And bring a present and food.
