If I were you I'd consider changing this practice. When people are in the hospital with a newborn, they're chiefly interested in A) sleep and B) getting home.

Yes. I agree. When my son was born, the next day we had an endless stream of visitors and while it was really great to see everyone, it was kinda exhausting and a relief when it was over.
I mean thinking back on it I do remember all of my friends that stopped by and I don't resent any of them for coming, the whole process is just a lot to deal with.
