everybody in Washington DC loves Martin Luther King Jr nowadays, but they tend to only remember him for one speech. After watching the Cornel West speech on MLK and the inauguration, he seems to be one of the few that gets it.

Who do you know who did this because they were motivated by racism, the Republican state senators? And in your own words why was this move to replace white Democratic state senators with white Republican state senators racist?

Honestly, I've already said more than I should on the issue, which likely will involve litigation. Forget it.

Replacing those many black words in your post with only the one black word was pretty racist

Sarcastically congratulates me for sniffing out hypocrisy surrounding 'racism' then whines about sarcasm being thrown back in reply. More liberal double standards!

Telling you not to be an asshole b/c I literally cannot talk about this subject anymore =/= whining. Especially when you are being an asshole and now doubling down on such.

At what point does it become ghettoization? The answer appears to be when Republicans do it. The one spot where a certain degree of ignorance might lead to a sweeping statement that factually has no bearing on this incident is how the person who wrote that article feels about majority minority districts in general. Maybe the blogger is a strident opponent of majority minority districts in all of their incarnations.

Michael McDonald said a sixth district could be created but they didn't look at it as closely because of limited budget and concern of how it would hold up under judicial scrutiny. The five current majority minority districts were left intact in the new map so that should alleviate the judicial scrutiny concern about that aspect.

Jesus Christ. Maybe when it looks like this? http://www.vpap.org/redistricting

The sad part about this conversation is that you're operating under the flawed assumption that I agree with gerrymandering by either party. So forget about the "ghettoization" comment. After pressing you on it, that seems to be the only thing you consider *absurd* despite your sweeping characterization of Waldo's post as such. Never mind that the crux of his criticism was aimed at the method far more than the outcome, which was still very much indecipherable at the time of his post due to the surprise nature of the floor substitute.

Can we now have an intelligent conversation now or are you going to continue bringing up Texas as if it has any bearing on what happened here?

No offense, but all your posts are "jerseyhoya is wrong, but I can't talk about specifics because of my job."

Edit: And why are you angry about the wording in your own post that you deleted? Did someone else delete it? I didnt see the post, but it's hard to claim that everyone else is unreasonably judging it after you deleted it and cant let the words speak for themselves.

Well, we have to know, are they down with the cause? Or are they cornball politicians?

Not really, but it's not surprising that you're now chiming in.

I'm not angry about my post. I deleted it b/c I shouldn't be discussing the issue publicly. Actually, I'm not angry at all. I can say that someone is acting like an asshole without being angry, can't I?

Sure, this convo went on far too long with no real substance. And only a couple of us on here should give a crap anyway.

So what happened in the hearing/
