Third degree burn on the roof of my mouth from pizza last night. Totally worth it though.

I feel you made the right choice here.

This. I've never been to jazz fest, but I've been to New Orleans just because and it is fucking awesome, and from friends that have gone to jazz fest, I hear that is even awesomer. So go do it. My only piece of advice is, do not throw a hand grenade into a hurricane.

What kind of suggestions? Port of Call on Esplanade makes a really good hamburger and has pretty good drinks--a world class dive. It's likely to be packed. Jazz fest might be different than a typical weekend, but if it's possible, get in a cab and go to Bullett's on Tuesday evening and see Kermit Ruffins. (You'll probably have to have the exact address, most cabbies don't seem to know where it is.) There are also lots of great live music in Fauborg Marigny, again, I have no idea what will be going on during jazz fest. Make your hotel reservation early. We stayed at Place D'Armes hotel, and I thought it was a great value at $85. Obviously, you'll pay more during Jazz Fest. And parking was $32 a night.

If you want a really great meal, I strongly recommend Herbsaint. Of the traditional New Orleans places, I understand that Arnaud's is one of the best--we ate there and really enjoyed our meal. During jazz fest, I'd imagine reservations are essential at both places. Arnaud's has several rooms, I guess, that vary in their level of formality.

Wear a hat. Bring sunscreen. You will burn (even if it's overcast) and a hangover+bad sunburn is really unpleasant.

Holy Shit is right. And am I a bad person for being glad it wasn't Russia (as I at first thought thanks to the Cyrillic letters on the Podium, which by the way are DPS, so I've learned at least some of the Cyrillic alphabet.)

The old dude reacted a lot more quickly than I would've thought. Assassin looked shocked when the gun misfired.

pretty sure he saw his entire life flash before his eyes when the gun misfired and slapped away. he had no idea what to do to the point that the old man himself was able to push him around

So, I made the decision to definitely go to jazz fest. I'm being a shitty friend to one person in exchange for a great party with like 4 friends. Next step is to convince my GF that she doesn't want to go. I don't know what it is about the age of 33, but it really has been awesome so far. I've never in my life felt like I could do whatever the fuck I want whenever I want to do it. People who are 32 can suck it.
