It's not illegal in the US. And "gamy" and "tasteless" are pretty much opposites - not sure which you mean.

It's "taboo" because of the close relationship between people and horses - even when horses were essentially draft animals, rather than pets, they weren't often eaten. Where it's illegal, I imagine it's primarily codifying this.

Wish I had thought of this.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/story-man ... 01981.html

What they ended up finding were hundreds of PDF invoices from a third-party contractor in Shenyang, China.
A look at his browsing history revealed what his typical work day consisted of:
9:00 a.m. – Arrive and surf Reddit for a couple of hours. Watch cat videos.
11:30 a.m. – Take lunch.
1:00 p.m. – Ebay time.
2:00ish p.m. – Facebook updates – LinkedIn.
4:30 p.m. – End of day update e-mail to management.
5:00 p.m. – Go home.
So while workers in China were doing Bob's job for him, Bob was sitting back, relaxing, watching cat videos, and earning "several hundred thousand dollars" a year.

nah, just felt a change was needed. what do i care what she thinks about my desktop pic?

id get fired if i put any picture of a lady on my background. someone would call it harassment...we have a bunch of weirdos here. i got reported once for doing a 'why i oughta' ralph kramden thing as a joke. nothing came of it, but my boss told me some of the ladies here are crazy.

Hmmm. looking at verizon's presentation of its "case study" about "the attacker" reads like lost pages of the script for Reefer Madness: "fiendishly creative and little known things are happening under your very noses corporate america, diverting your hard-stolen revenues into the pockets of people even more devious than yourselves. Wake up! You're not nearly control-freaky enough!"

I read about that in the Economist recently, and the article made it sound like the treatment was widespread and had been around awhile.
