So I did some Christmas shopping tonight, and as I'm heading to my car, a girl walking through the parking lot crying asks me for $2 or a bus token. After looking around to make sure nothing was up (not that anyone is stupid enough to jump me), I asked what's up and she gives a story about losing her wallet, having no car and getting kicked out of the mall parking lot because she was begging for money. She wasn't homeless level of dirty or anything, but I wouldn't be shocked if she was just looking for change for drugs or alcohol or something, but fuck it, holiday season and all, plus I believe in that "random act of kindness" and "pay it forward" shit, so I give her $2 and she thanks me and I wished her a good night. 2 minutes later, leaving the parking lot and heading home, I'm first in line at the traffic light and the other side has an extended left arrow. I see a BMW speeding up the lane pretty good and immediately sensed this guy wasn't stopping. Green light for me, and I sit there and wait a second. Sure enough, the BMW blows the red, makes the left in front of me and slams on the brakes to avoid smashing into the person to my right that immediately went. If I had gone, they would've smashed me.

Rev Beez, does this mean anything?

I don't get it...was the chick you gave $2 to driving the BMW?

I guess he's referring to a karma type deal i.e. had he not given her the money the car would've plowed into him and it'd be RIP BigEd

No, she was walking around the parking lot and had no car (and I'm sure it was a panhandling scam but $2 isn't a big deal like $20 or $100). Some other douche with a BMW was minutes away. I dunno, probably just good karma or something. I'm sure the same thing would've happened if I said no to the girl....or I could've given the money and still been smashed. Just an odd coincidence that those events happened within 5 minutes of each other.

(FWIW I've always had a Saint Christopher medal stashed in my car and I've never been in a serious accident....*knock on wood*)

I do aswell, the one I have is about 90ish years old. It's pretty good sized oval shape. Passed down from Great Grandpa to me.

Nice! My favorite dish by far there was the chicken yakisoba. Their teriyaki dishes were okay but the yakisoba was what kept me coming back.

Could look at it the other way that if you had just ignored her and drove away right away, you might not have gotten caught at that light in the first place and you'd never even have known about the BMW

the big ed story reminded me of a story of myself... how dog shit saved azrider's life.

i don't know if there was any good karma involved here or what, but little did i know while cutting across the grass to get to my car at a friend's apartment complex, i had stepped in dog shit. i got into my car, drove away, got stopped at a traffic light, and something smelled like shit and it seemed to be coming from the floor. this has not been azrider's first encountered with shit so i calmly got out of my car and proceeded to scrape the sole of my shoe against my tire. little did i know that when i looked up the light had not only tuned green, but one of those huge f450 trucks was easily doing about 65-70 through the red light. if i had not stepped in dog shit, azrider may not be here today.

I look both ways when the light goes green to make sure the cars on each side have stopped.
