John Allen also involved in this sex scandal. He was going to be confirmed to be the general in charge of Europe later this week. Oops.

Seems Jill Kelley was targeting some really important people. Her brother lives around Philly. She once lived here too before moving to Tampa.

that FBI agent and Jill Kelly appear to be scumbags, and it seems like hte FBI agent broke SOME kind of law...how the hell did he get a warrant on non-threats?? who gave that warrant? Sheesh, are we just giving warrants out willy-nilly (oh wait..)?

oh no, the head of hte CIA was getting some hanky-panky so we have to blow him up. I'm not a fan of Petraus (sp.?), but this is ridiculous.

The sex part isn't shocking or disqualifying. The indiscretion and inability to keep everyone quiet about it is entirely disqualifying. I was an admirer of Petraeus, and I'm glad he's out after this mess.

You do realize that adultery can be used as blackmail against you, right? Normally, I wouldn't give two shits if a dude was playing hide the pork roll with another chick, but when you have the Director of the CIA and the Commander of Coaltion forces in Afghanistan under investigation for adultery, it makes my skin crawl.

That's why this is so important...you simply can't have this sort of comprimising behavior occuring with people in these positions of extreme authority and sensitivity.

There appears to be no reason that the investigation was launched.

If there's anything about you that could remotely be used for blackmail, you automatically lose your clearance. As far as not having a reason for an investigation, they don't need one. He holds the highest security clearance in the country. He is consistently investigated by the FBI. He is also re-polygraphed every year or two. If they didn't find out now, that would soon enough. The FBI doesn't mess around when it comes to that. When I went to Mexico a few years back, I was questioned about my trip for three hours just to make sure I didn't go to Cuba, have contact with any foreign nationals, or have had a feeling that I was being followed.

They actually do need a reason. He is a citizen and it is not illegal for someone at the cia to have an affair. The fbi is notpproperly briefing who they should about what, either.

The overreach of the fbi in general and the lack of oversight and their lack of openness to our elected officials is very worrisome.

When you get a clearance, you sign a notarized consent document giving the FBI permission to investigate you at anytime. It's not illegal to have an affair. Nothing he did, that we know of, is illegal ... But he did jeopardized his clearance and has no choice to resign since his clearance will be revoked.

He appears to have done nothing wrong. Fucking is breaching nothing unless they can prove he passed along info. I just don't see it.

The affair is a nonstory, but the question as to whether or not either of these loose women were given access to confidential/sensitive information is enough of a risk that it needed to be investigated.
