This is a fair point. I want Obama to win but kinda want a nailbiter for no reason other than excitement and entertainment. But in the long-run, a clear victory is much more helpful for the country.

PA isn't in question. That's just spin to justify the Romney camp spending its surplus ad dollars in PA b/c they couldn't spend it elsewhere and didn't want to eat it. PA has been consistently Obama +3/+5 for the past month.

A Tea Party group in Kansas is saying that a Democratic candidate for the state House of Representatives should not be elected because he does not have children.

Literature dropped off at homes in Wichita Saturday by Kansans for Liberty, a Tea Party group, says that Democrat Brandon Whipple should not be elected to the state House because he has no children. It is one of a list of reasons why Whipple, 30, should not be elected over Republican Rick Lindsey in the newly drawn district, according to the literature.

"Can someone with no children really understand your family's needs?" it reads, with "no children" written in red.

The piece also criticizes Whipple's experience as a public school teacher, calling him a career government employee, and attacks him for not having his name on the deed to his house. It calls the candidate's beliefs into question, saying Whipple told a neighborhood group that while he is a Democrat, he married into a Republican family and "learned to compromise."

His opponent also has no children...

"It is a personal attack," Whipple told The Huffington Post. "It offends me because my wife and I are trying to have kids."

At least you have an option for your local hack. My only option is a no-vote.

I should add I would vote Brady in the general and against him in the primary.

My senate rep in the pa senate is a democrat because he has to be. I'm not sure what actual democratic values he actually holds. He likes unions because they give him money? All I can see.

I've never been so proud to be an American as today, when I am entrusted with the responsibility of voting for an anonymous elector who may or may not then help select a presidential candidate according to my wishes.

Unless you think he's going to outperform his 2008 margin (spoiler: he's not), there's no shot of this.

Then again, a mandate is what you make of it. Bush clearly didn't have one the first time but acted like he'd won in a landslide, and claimed one the second time but couldn't move an agenda, for a bunch of reasons. What might empower Obama, if he wins, isn't the margin but the circumstances around the "fiscal cliff," plus the likelihood of the recovery picking up steam.

That second point is the one that sticks in my head. I'm convinced the only way to rid the Republicans of the crazy is to beat it out of them. If Obama wins today and the economy really starts to cook over the next few years, Obamacare is implemented (maybe with slight/bipartisan reforms) and there's a deal on immigration reform, I could see a scenario in which they nominate a true nutball next time, lose in a landslide, and then maybe, finally start to turn back toward Huntsman/Daniels type conservatives, with a party behind them more interested in good governance than dying on the hill of right-wing dogma.*

*I actually believe this is true of Romney--but not that he has the strength of character to lead this fight within his party. My hope is that if he does lose, Republicans will reach the conclusion that what beat him was how far he had to run to the right in the primaries just to fend off people you wouldn't want feeding your cats, much less running the country.

They were asking everyone for ID at my place. Didn't seem like a big deal at all.

My experience, after they confirmed I was on the list and had voted in past elections at this location:

75 year old lady: You have ID, right?
Me: Yeah, do I need it?
lady: No. Just sign here.

Hmmmm, I think I was outsmarted here. I wish I hadnt confirmed before asking if I needed it.

It's a big deal to those that don't have ID and are registered to vote.
