I sort of understand why your credit rating is part of the formula for insurance, but it would seem to me that insurance fraud (at least for car and homeowner policies) would be pretty rare. I mean, most people who can't pay their mortgage aren't torching their houses. So I guess insurance is a credit product? Or is it just that bad credit is correlated with bad driving?

Also, I was wondering--there's a big dead tree in the vacant wooded lot behind my house. Is there anything I can do other than hope bits and pieces of it continue to fall harmlessly (and providing plenty of wood for my fire pit in the process)?

There have been a lot of murders lately, like 4 in one day last week, some kids getting killed and stuff.
I think it's been pretty confined to the "bad areas" so as long as your friend doesn't live past like 12th street, he's probably ok.
