That is real, and given everything that has gone on in DC government the past week, hilarious. Also great from our nation's capital:

Last week, D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown resigned after being charged with felony bank fraud — he later pleaded guilty — and the council met Wednesday to select an interim chairman. The Washington Post reported Barry as saying at the meeting, “This has been one of the most serious government crises since home rule. The only thing I can think of more serious than this is 9/11.”

Councilmember Jack Evans disagreed, saying the situation today is not as bad as when, for instance, Barry was arrested in 1990 for allegedly smoking crack, according to the Post.

Jack Evans, ftw

Interesting (and depressing) look at Greece and the array of shitty options in the run up to their elections Sunday.

If you don't include Democracy Now as part of your daily news, then you are just myopic with blinders. Be curious as to what some of ye strong opined BSGers have to say about the reveal on the pacific trade pact in secret that got exposed. Check out the interview and discussion on it on today's Dem Now to fully learn that Obama is just like Bush, Clinton etc... usurp congress and constitution with treaties in secret that are all for corps to circumvent ANY regulations and make tax payers pay THEM for problems later...

This is how it is... Democracy is a joke.

Right. There's no difference at all between a President who believes that global warming is caused by the large amounts of carbon we're dumping in the atmosphere and one who believes that whatever happens to the climate happens because God wills it. There's no difference between a President who recognizes that tax increases have to be part of any credible plan to reduce the debt, and one who believes the way to reduce the debt is to cut taxes and increase military spending. No difference at all.

That Kwame Brown they talk about in the above post isn't the same Kwame Brown who played basketball for the Wizards, is it?

I figured not, but I was hopeful. Apparently THAT Kwame Brown is still an active player.

Link to God global warming claims? I found the opposite:

And Bush wasnt trying to reduce the debt when he was in office. Do you honestly believe that was his goal in the first term? Obama and Bush agree about many aspects of foreign policy and national security, but they do disagree about how to induce economic growth.

Exactly. One party wants to spend recklessly while cutting taxes, thus making the debt crisis worse, the other is willing to accept the idea that sooner or later, we'll have to pay for this stuff, and the only way to pay for it is through taxation. One party believes in addition and subtraction, the other party calls addition and subtraction "funny math".

One party puts people like this in the House of Reps

the other party has people like this.

What's the opposite of opposite? In the realm of politics, probably somewhere in the middle

When are politicians going to learn about that crap? If your weakness is that you're a rich dude who is completely out of touch with the concerns of the average voter, don't try to relate by ad libbing. Just. Don't. Do. It.

in his defense the wawa ordering screen is awesome.

calling it "wawa's" is much funnier imo.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

It is kind of funny. I don't know if it's the price scanner moment, then again I wasn't even around for that, I was 2. Maybe I'll learn something about that someday. I guess it just depends on how far the story travels.

He was comparing the efficiency of getting a hoagie at Wawa(s) to the inefficiency of the federal government, with his example being a local optometrist who had trouble dealing with a federal agency getting reimbursement payments when he tried repeatedly and unsuccessfully to change his location within a town. Praising competition and the private sector for developing better ways to serve the customer, and saying the federal government is inefficient because it's not subject to the same pressures.

MSNBC edited the speech to make it look like his point was that he had never seen the technology before and thus was out of touch with real people, just like some other evil Republican 20 years ago.

In the build up he acknowledges he knows some people in the area prefer Sheetz and Turkey Hill. He wasn't ad-libbing. He just got the name of the store wrong.

you should know, and romney ought to have known, that in health care at least the federal government contracts many of these transactional functions out to - horrors! - private-sector health insurers. so it's not likely the inefficiency of the federal government that troubled his aggrieved optometrist.
