I have a portable DeLonghi unit. It may have a dehumidifier mode; if so, we've never used it as A/C dehumidifies by its nature and heat and humidity usually go hand-in-hand. It works great as an air conditioner.
I've often railed on why all A/C systems are designed without independent cool and dehumidify functions. I prefer it a little warmer than most during the summer (around 75-76), but in order to get rid of the Philly humidity during the summer I've got to run the temp down to 70-72. The lower humidity @ higher temperature promise was one of the reasons I went with a hi-velocity miniduct system for my first floor "central" system; it does a better job at that than conventionals, but I still wish it would let me set the temp and humidity independently...
