is the window vent part really easy to put in and take out? that would be a huge plus to me. I live on the third floor on a crowded street so we have to get the maintenance guys to put in the AC unit, so basically once I turn the AC on, I'm out my main window until the fall. would love to be able to switch back and forth with ease

Pretty easy, I think. I haven't done it since last year, though.

I have a portable DeLonghi unit. It may have a dehumidifier mode; if so, we've never used it as A/C dehumidifies by its nature and heat and humidity usually go hand-in-hand. It works great as an air conditioner.

I've often railed on why all A/C systems are designed without independent cool and dehumidify functions. I prefer it a little warmer than most during the summer (around 75-76), but in order to get rid of the Philly humidity during the summer I've got to run the temp down to 70-72. The lower humidity @ higher temperature promise was one of the reasons I went with a hi-velocity miniduct system for my first floor "central" system; it does a better job at that than conventionals, but I still wish it would let me set the temp and humidity independently...
