What are you doing going to college? If you'd be happy working a 40 hour week making 40k/year you can do that pretty easily without a degree.

I also want job security, upward mobility, and a 401k to go with that. I need a degree.

And you are way overestimating the current availability of jobs for uneducated workers.

Upward mobility often overlaps with working long hours. Hate to break it to you.

"He mistakenly believed that it was complete," spokeswoman Kat Stein said Wednesday afternoon.

Riiiight.

Even worse maybe is his boss knew about this in early March. It took the Inquirer asking the President's office about it for them to take any real action.

There was another article in The Daily Pennsylvanian that went into more detail. I'll find it in a sec..

I guess. I just know a number of people who have worked for doctorates, and the thought that anyone could be unsure whether they had completed it or not boggles my mind.

That DP article is linked in my post upthread. He lied about his masters, too (guess he had to for the dates to work out):

Additionally, despite Lynch’s claims that he received a master’s degree from Columbia in 2005, the school’s Registrar’s Office confirmed that he did not receive a master’s there until 2010.

It's hard to believe. There are various administrative steps to take towards the end and some of them could have been missed, delaying the finalization of the degree. People who get PhDs don't always go to graduation ceremonies, so it is conceivable that someone thought they had filled out all of the right forms but did not.

But it's a stretch that not knowing would last that long. They don't give you a diploma unless you finish all of the requirements. He would have had some indication before someone else brought it to his attention that he didn't really complete his degree.

I've known people who lied about completing the PhD. I knew of someone who was leading people to believe that she had a PhD but let it slip that she didn't really have one to a friend of mine. When I met her, she tried to pretend with me. She said things about her graduate training and her dissertation research. When I asked her, point blank, do you have a PhD? she said yes. I wouldn't normally ask that question so I'm sure she has gotten away with it for a long time.

The degree was in education--specifically, a doctor of philosophy, economics and education. Now really, what kind of bullshit is that anyway? And really, there are lots of people working in higher education with various EDDs in shit like Higher Education Administration from places like Walden U and Cappella. I suspect people with bogus and fraudulent credentials can be found on every campus in the nation and yes, probably the overwhelming majority of them are in administration and Student Affairs.

On the other hand there are plenty of jerkoffs with actual PhDs who shouldn't be in charge of doing anything with any actual consequences.

if I had to guess, i'd say the dude whose job it is within NJT to apply for homeland security grants has a brother-in-law with an advertising agency, and they found a clever way to funnel federal funds to his company.

Well, I do mine on a tortilla, but here goes:

I take frozen sausage, chop it up
I beat two eggs
I get out some milk and mix it in with the eggs. I put some pepper and salt in too.
I get out some cheese, usually a cheddar, shredded

I take the tortilla and I raise the edges (I use a pie pan , the edges naturally raise, pour everything in, bake at 375 degrees for about 20-25 minutes.
