When I was young and went out to bars most nights, I usually skipped st. Paddy's day and nye. It's amature night, let all the fools go out tonthe bars and rock a house party or just chill and watch a movie. For what you save on a bar tab get a nice bottle of Irish whiskey or a case of Guinness or whatever floats your boat.

yeah, i've been meaning to ask about that. the holiday falls on a saturday this year, but yet conshohocken had the parade on the saturday prior, a full week before. WTF conshohocken

i thought it was usually the two Saturdays before. this year is just extra fucked because St. Patrick's Day is a Saturday

the bartenders at Bonner's told me they don't even do particularly well because the kids are all too drunk to remember to tip (or just cheap in the first place)

I think they usually go with the Saturday before as the primary date every year just in case it rains or whatever they'll have the Saturday after (or in this case the Saturday of) as a makeup date. Otherwise you end up with a St. Patty's day parade in late March/early April and everyone knows that would just suck. I don't really care what day they do it I'm just happy to have one day a year where we can openly drink booze on the streets of Conshy.
