well, yeah, but there's at least a few years there of being conversational rather than fluent there

I know a married couple Japanese girl/white guy who misunderstand each other constantly and think it's hilarious. I also have a good friend who's been dating an Argentine girl for some time now and they talk but don't really seem to actually converse much. good for them, I'm just saying it wouldn't work for me

like these girls at work, I'm pretty terrible at flirting with them because the conversation is so lumpy

i was messing around with these brazilian chicks not too long ago and i can't do the lack of conversation thing either. the one had no idea what i was saying and would just smile at me all the time. i would say some rather bizarre things and she would have no clue. that was fun for a day or two, but it eventually got old. the other brazilian chick spoke english quite well, unfortunately i have a rather sarcastic sense of humor that she took pretty much everything i said literally, which kind of sucked.
