just avoid names that are pop culture references and you should be fine right?

there's a jewish tradition where you name the child after a dead relative, but only using the same first letter. that's how we got into Ella, Eva territory. Pretty soon we just avoided that tradition

Hm. My kids' names were picked deliberately trying to avoid the uber-trendy and any pop culture references, and failed on both counts. Madeleine (the traditional, French spelling less common today) was of course shortened to Maddie (though we don't call her that ourselves) like scores of Madisons. In fact, there was a Madeline in her daycare. Josephine is a very old-fashioned name, but shortened to Joey (actually a contraction of Jo and her middle initial, E.), so there's the pop culture reference (Dawson's Creek, which of course is right in the wheelhouse of a lot of young mothers today).

There's already at least an 85% chance my firstborn is named Chase. It's gonna happen.

We have picked out our daughter's name, it's a secret, we havne't told anyone yet, but I feel like I can tell you guys, so don't go getting me in trouble here with my wife. We picked Evangaline. Lots of variation on it, Eve, Evie, Ev, Evan, and more.

I've known two ambers and they were both half-orc. Possibly 3/4 orc.

It's apparently hard to find any girl named Amber.

Not to step on any toes, but it won't be Evangeline?
