AN OPEN LETTER TO THE JERK I MET THIS MORNING:

I was the heavy guy in the navy blue shirt sitting in the Black Subaru hurriedly emailing away on my iPhone. You were the angry looking man who appeared out of nowhere who was circling my car.

I am the pastor of a fairly large country church in Eastern Pennsylvania. I just started there the beginning of this month. This morning, on my way to church, I received a phone call that informed me that one of the long standing women in the church was near death. I rerouted my course immediately to Geisinger in Danville, but began to plan as to what I would do to get my messages that I would usually just receive when I arrived in my office.

I checked my email with my Phone, and had three that required fairly rapid responses. I looked for a place to pull over, but on these windy country roads they do not exist. Finally, I came to a place where there was a shale area to the side of the road. I pulled over and began to reply. They would be quick replies that would take a couple of minutes tops.

While I was sending my first email, you appeared, and you looked angry. I rolled down my window, and realized that to my left, back about 10 feet, was your truck. I apologized and asked if you needed me to move so that you could get your truck out. You replied, with a cowboy-like attitude, "what I NEED is for you to get off my property." I again apologized and explained that I was a pastor, and on my way to visit a dying woman, and was just trying to take care of some stuff and I would be gone in moments. "I DON'T CARE," you replied, and I was somewhat intimidated so I rolled up the window and drove away. I watched you walk back into your house, put down the passenger mirror and yelled, "hey buddy!" You looked at me. "I just want to let you know, I'm trying to serve my church, I'm not being malicious!" "I know," you replied, with a tone that let me know that you knew but didn't care.

Sir, there are some things in this world that are more important than worrying if someone is on your property or not. I was trying to minister to a family that was hurting because they were losing their wife of 60 years, their mother, and their grandmother. I was trying to let members of the congregation know so that they could also surround these people with love in this time of grief. You are a selfish jerk, and I don't know if you are a Christian or if you believe in anything, but there are assholes everywhere, and the attitude and anger you copped to me just because I was pulled over to the side of the road SO I WOULDN'T DIE WHILE DRIVING AND EMAILING AT THE SAME TIME was reprehensible. I find you disgusting, and hope that someone shows you the kindness and grace that apparently is alien to you.

i just spent 9 minutes on the phone trying to describe where a downed tree was. it was pretty dangerous so we decided to call it in. the road it was on changes names right near there from high street to pottstown pike. i kept giving good land marks and cross streets but the guy could not figure it out because i couldnt remember the name of the pike. hope they find it.
