I payed no attention to the Casey Anthony trial at all but from everything I did know about it I was very creeped out. And it seems like people expected this to an extent. Maybe not getting off from all the huge charges, but this didn't come out of left field. Sounds like she was guilty of being a really crappy mother and probably a murderous one, but that wasn't proven anywhere close to beyond a reasonable doubt apparently. And common sense isn't really addmissible in a court of law and that is one of the big screws that are loose.

Oh well, she can have some more kids now and live that fairy tale life.

Was the theory behind the drowning story that: (1) the mom wasn't around when it happened; (2) the grandfather was, and hid the body; and (3) the mom made up stories about where the kid was for a month even though the grandfather knew the kid was dead? If so, that's pretty insane.

I think 20-30 years ago they would have convicted her as they had more than enough circumstantial evidence proving she did it. (for crying out loud, she had traces of Chloroform in her car, the same duct tape and other material found on the girl were found in her house, she made up a nanny for 30 days and lied about where she was, etc etc) But in the day and age of DNA without having DNA proof may have been what let her free.

And if you believed this, you also would have to believe that the grandfather - rather than come clean and tell the truth, which probably only gets him some lesser charges - chose instead to let his daughter face first degree murder charges? This is the theory, right?

She seems like she's a sociopath at a minimum, but I guess the prosecution did a shitty job.
