I think you can follow along, be happy for your new friends if they're doing well, and root if they're in the other conference, but you can't just drop your old team. You especially can't neglect your old team while they're doing poorly, pick up the new team, then go back to the old when fortunes are reversed. That should get you burned at the stake.

yea no abandoning the roots obviously, more so what level of rooting interest is pushing the bush league envelope is the question I guess.

I think you'll find that if they (what team are we talking?) win the big one everyone else will go nuts but you will get really no catharsis and realize it isn't nearly the same for you, no matter how closely you followed that year. So just have fun and pour back some burrs

hmm. I think going wearing the full regalia is pretty cheesy, but I always think it's kinda neat seeing the odd stand-out cap or two at the game

cap I can handle, but jerseys, shirsies, and sweatbands(people do this!) are no bueno.

Sorry, was channeling jeff when I started getting all judgmental.

The year I lived in Arizona was the year the D-Backs won the World Series so I was pretty psyched and it was a cool environment, especially because they beat the Yankees, and I had not previously been in a World Series winning town (ha!). I cheered for the D-Backs but it certainly wasn't a joyruption. It was also kind of hard to find actual, serious D-Backs fans.

I am a huge shorts enthusiast. I really have to watch it sometimes in March or April if I plan to go to a nice bar. Then I have to remember to put on a pear of unwashed jeans.
