dude, move to reading. it's super cheap here, 770/mth rent for a 2br in my building, includes everything but electric (heat is gas). commute would rule for you guys, no doubt
actually another friend of mine is moving in with his girlfriend in manayunk and part of the negotiations were that she has to drive me home after eagles games
i live on my own here accruing no additional debt and paying my student loans no problem every month. everything is SOOOOO cheap here. i cant believe how much people i know complain about how 'expensive' everything is. my weekly grocery bill is insanely low. hell, imax is like ten bucks
Walked across the South Street Bridge last weekend for the first time since it's re-opening. Love the wide sidewalks and it's definitely a plus that you don't feel like you're going to fall through it any more.
But man is that thing ugly. And not just cheap ugly like the Walnut Street Bridge, but ugly by design.

i'm going to have to check it out. so it doesnt rattle and make you feel like youre going to be hit??? the design was to allow pedestrians real safety and for cars to share the road.
if i worked in center city, i think i'd try to find a spot in the logan square area. good bars around there, close to everything and, last i checked, the prices weren't too bad.

It does that well, and even the necessary but unfortunate crossing where 76 off lads are at least very visible and metered.
It's just odd that in a bridge linking the row houses of South Philly to the historic brick buildings of Penn is all brushed steel, chain link and concrete. Plus the towers that were supposed to be the main architectural element were scrubbed at the last minute due to lack of funds and design questions, so you just have stubs of these things sprouting u without purpose.
It's now a superb way to get across the river, offers great views of the city and if it ever gets built to specifications I think it will be interesting to see from the water. But in and of itself it's pretty brutal.
