I'm going to the horse races tomorrow, going to get drunk, and call home and say the second stanza (modified of course) to my dad. I think it's 80% he flips, 20% he gets the reference.

Too bad we can't discuss Justin Beiber's views on health care.

He had a pretty good cross over dribble last night in the celeb all star game that led to an assist to AC Green

I gots myself a new job, and I bought this for myself as a present:

Image

The full-sized arcade game, for those who remember it. $479 after tax. I feel like it's extravagant and stupid, but since I am getting a big raise, I can afford it (it was either this or a Blu-Ray player, and honestly, I don't care enough about blu ray one way or the other). Will have to store it with the folks until I move however.

The game was the only arcade game I played consistently when I was a kid.

Sure you can. Doc Smooth probably wants some company on the health reform thread.

Re: Blu-Ray, it's going to be increasingly difficult to purchase movies on DVD, so there's that.

However, a basic Blu-Ray player can be had for under $100 so it's not really in the same ballpark as that game.

Well, I'd want my Blu-Ray player to be an all-in-one sound system unit as well, and those run $300 & up. At least now they do.

And since I have a Wii to download movies with, I just figured, "I only live once."

You made the right call in my opinion--the game you bought won't depreciate and it will never be obsolete. The Blue Ray will one day, probably sooner rather than later, be a worthless piece of obsolete junk.

I recommend against the HTIB type combo systems. They're generally really crappy components that will probably look nice and sound OK but won't last. I acted against online advice and bought one a few years ago, and it just died. I'm now using a cheap Blu-Ray player with the sound through the TV and don't miss the HT system at all.

Huh. The DVD player/combo unit I have (by Panasonic) I bought in 2003 and is still working just fine. Only it doesn't, you know, play blu ray discs.

Excellent points. Let's not forget the joy pretending the guys in red are the Phillies and the guys in blue are the Mets will bring me, particularly when I win.
