Anyone know what Bristol, CT is like? Is it a pretty dead place except for ESPN being there?

An old colleague of mine who had previously worked at ESPN mentioned a running joke:

Q: What's the best view of Bristol, Connecticut?
A: The one in your rear view mirror.

My wife, a CT native, has expressed a similar opinion. I always figured that with ESPN becoming such a big deal, restaurants and bars and shops and other amenities would pop up, but I guess not.

I've heard ESPN has a big campus with all that stuff, but only for employees.

Won't matter anyway. There's a job at ESPN called "Digital Librarian" but no part of the job description has anything to do with research or library stuff.

Going out to pick up eye glasses for the first time. I wish they were ready yesterday. Trying to watch the Georgetown game from the dinner table was hard work.

The Digital librarian will oversee and participate in the creation and maintenance of Events

I dunno, these seem like almost god-like powers.

Why does Microsoft hate the indefinite article in front of elite? That is, every time I type "an elite" in MS Word, it tells me it's not grammatical. I think that's wrong. Or a conspiracy.

Are you using elite as an adjective (e.g. an elite baseball player), or are you using elite to mean "one who is elite?" The former is correct, the latter is not.

At the end of my first "full" week of work in a very long time, I'm pretty much ready to kill everyone in a hundred-foot radius. Wish I hadn't gotten Chipotle yesterday so at least I could have it to look forward to today.

But all the restaurants shut down after Berman went on that Nutrisystem thing.

I dislike Utz products for the most part (though they're better than Lays) - but I'm loving the Party Mix (AKA sweep the floor and put it in a bag).

My cousin works for ESPN. If you want, I can get the lowdown on the Digital Librarianship.
