I keep a bag of straws in my van, because so many times I pick up food for the kids, but just a drink for myself -- since there's no food bag, I never get a straw.

Drive-thru totally necessary with small-ish kids.

Also helps for the magic pick-me-up powder.

Use it at DQ and McDonalds. I don't know why, but the drive in menu at McDonalds seems more complete than the one in the store. Sonic of course is a drive in.

Also, your drive up order may be outsourced.

I don't understand the point of restaurants that have a window where you pay for your food and then a window you have to drive up to to pick up your food. Honestly, what's the reasoning behind this?

keeps things moving during busier times, gives the 2nd window another 30 seconds or so to get the order together, and makes it seem like it's a bit faster during busy times

Also adds another person to take orders so the second person doesn't have to deal with it

My brother actually drove through a window once.

Personally, I rarely use the drive-thru.

Used to hate it in high school when you were walking around looking for food after midnight and some places would have the drive thru open til 1 but not the dining room. These places would inevitably tell you they can't serve you unless you're in a car as if that actually mattered at all.
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

Very nice development for Grooveshark. Thanks for unveiling that, Bill!

That's it. The concept is quite simple. Have multiple stations performing customer-facing tasks simultaneously, even though there can only be a single customer queue. All in the name of efficiency. It makes perfect sense during busy times.
