I'm in Florida. I was here for Christmas with my gf's family; we were supposed to fly back to NY on the 28th. That flight was cancelled because of the storm and the earliest flight we could get is on the 1st.

Well today, I was out on a fishing boat, going pretty fast. We hit a wave, I caught air and slammed down on my ass and completely rocked my lower back. I've never felt pain like that before. I couldn't talk for a couple minutes, totally had the wind knocked out of me. We had to turn around it was so bad. It's still pretty sore. I took a hot bath, used a heating pad and some icy hot and I'm taking a bunch of pills.

Anyone ever do anything like this before? Weirdly enough one of my first thoughts was about Phight On's back problems (not saying this was that bad). But yeah, not looking forward to my 3-hour flight tomorrow.

Tailbone of above?

Perhaps you broke/bruised your coccyx

I did a few years ago and I still have occasional pain.

Above my tailbone. It's more the small of my back.

Did you remember to click "delivery" instead of "pick up"? I've made that mistake before...
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

Thank God we drove their car because I'm not about to clean all that up.

A friend of mine did something like that on a jet ski, he was riding on the back and the driver tried to jump a wake, he got a compression fracture in his spine. He didn't go to the hospital for like 2 days because he thought it was just sore. He's all messed up now though in part because he waited and in part because he got into a car accident while he was healing. You reall should go get checked before you fly.

It sounds not dissimilar to an accident I had about 6 years ago. I was running for a meeting on site with my bike under one arm and my courier bag over my shoulder. on a wet wooden walkway in cycling shoes. Anyhow like you I came down on my back and I think I twisted hard as I fell (bikes not being the lightest of things). I was in severe pain and had to spend a day on my back, chewing ibuprofen and something else and watching JLA on cartoon network. The hospital had seen me pretty quickly, and the verdict was it was entirely muscular.

obviously make sure to get it checked out, but also don't make the mistake I did - this was during festival time, so I was back in work one day later, and working solidly for the next 3 weeks. I didn't even think of getting any followup physio because I was too busy, then too knackered, and I don't think I properly built up the damaged muscles after they recovered. Which was why I spent two days not moving over christmas. If it's only muscle, these things are recoverable, but the longer you leave it, the more you'll be working to rectify it.

The problem right now is twofold..........one, Paterno seemed as healthy as he's been all year at the bowl game

things said in or out of context that are both equally horrible for 100, Alex
