I want to know how this happened. So, a bunch of guys in their 40s decide to be in a band. I could see that. Unlike typical teenagers, they can afford to buy some decent equipment, and they're self-indulgent enough to blow their money on those toys. Fine. They're busy, so they don't practice much. OK. But instead of just jamming harmlessly once in awhile for fun, they actually get a gig. And they say yes. That's the part I simply don't get.

any resident new jerseyian want to explain it to me like a i'm a six year old why it's a good idea to be cutting police just as some of NJ's cities are seeing reductions in crime?

Am I wrong to assume that five of us who have never touched an instrument before could practice for an hour and deliver a better performance than that?

crime rates are largely a function of demographics - other things equal, the older your population, the less the crime

1.When it's easier to commit crime in the city, maybe more crime will stay in the city (until everybody runs out of stuff to steal, anyway).

2.None of those losers voted for Christie anyway.

I mean, a more serious answer would be one you'd already realize and would belong in the politics thread anyway. Obviously there's no political support right now for the the idea that viable cities are valuable to the state of NJ (or PA for that matter).

I'm sure they'll still be plenty of police officers available to round up when I go for jury duty or to a Riversharks game. So tell me why I should care?
