So at 3:00 I'll be 72 hours clean which is pretty good considering that will be by far the longest I haven't done/taken any narcotics since 2008. The mind of an addict ... and I freely admit I'm an addict ... is fucked up because the first thing that came to mind was "72 hours time to celebrate .. make that one phone call and it's party time". The one thing that bothers me is I must be in the 1% of people in world that doesn't get barely any opiate withdrawal symptoms. I mean I'd rather be put through hell to teach me a lesson- make me not want to not do this shit. Now it's been two times so this confirms it that even if I kept taking 6-8 oxy 80's among other things every day for 2 years straight I can stop whenever I feel like it and maybe just kick the covers for a few nights at worst. Who the fuck cares when I was doing an 8 ball a day of bliz I wouldn't sleep for 3 days straight.

You would have thought I would have just been happy to be alive after that car accident in August- 45 mph head on into a tree and while I demolished my arm I walked away from it like it was nothing. Instead I just got more and more depressed because of my actions my wife was 1 inch - 1 FUCKING INCH - from dieing instantly. Supposedly your 1st rib is your hardest bone in your body but hers shattered and came 1 inch from piercing her heart. So yeah I almost killed my wife because I was coming off a bender and took 7 valiums and 5 xanax just to get some sleep but something came up and we had to go somewhere and she kept telling me to pull over and she would drive and my exact words were "shut the fuck up. I'm fine I don't want to hear you again." First time I ever told her to shut up in 9 years and that's how it ended up. Basically I was used to hurting myself. I just couldn't handle hurting her. I got out of control- even for me- for 2 whole months- until I got put away for 10 days (they still gave me my narcotic rx's). Then I fell off the wagon again for a month and a half but this time I think I'm really gonna try. I owe it to my wife, my family, and myself. and apparently the NJ legal system.

Oh and I learned 2 other things-

1. It had been 10 years since I got into any type of fight until that little skirmish that I last wrote about. I learned that I have no business fighting anymore... Yeah when I hit the dude with the metal thing it felt like I hit a home run but when his boy jumped in and tackled me it took everything- and I mean everything- I had to beat that dude. I don't think I ever had a fight last more that 45 seconds or so. This took 2-3 minutes. If I didn't slip my hands underneath his arms, grab his neck, and choke the shit out of him he probably would have beat me. So yeah I'm retiring again.
