I had a mouse in my apartment about a month after moving in. I put down some spring traps and heard one snap. I went out in the kitchen and saw some blood on the floor by the trap, but no mouse. He was hanging from the curtains, so I beat it to death with a soup ladle and got a cat.
Finish the thing off.
So far the Eagles have been unable willing to at least make a good will jester - Garry Cobb, Professional Sportswriter

As a former exterminator, the best method of eliminating a trapped mouse is to drown it in a bucket.
